Well, I guess in Europe and America they appreciate and value their photographers more.
They even appreciate and value their rubbish collector, cleaners and road sweeper more. Unlike the mentality here, they do their jobs with dignity. Here no pride one...

Hey, I totally agree with you. I have known a French rubbish collector who is quite satisfied with his life, and he is only in his early 20's. He always seem to have so much leisure time. And the toilet cleaning ladies in the shopping mall in France are so well dressed, you wouldn't even thought they were toilet cleaners!!

"Accidents" do happen.

I saw a photographer knocked down the "Long Fong" candles from the altar. He was moving backwards at that moment while trying to take photos of my friends returning home for tea ceremony. The two candles actually fell onto the ground and extinguished!

I take wedding photography sometimes too, just feel that you need to be extra sensitive and considerate during those times, especially when u r not the only person covering the event. There are times you are so engrossed in the job that you "forget" about other people or things happening around you. Just like the lady in the video.

There was once i covered a wedding. This videographer was so dominating during the shoot that he kept zooming the camera in and out. When i said "zoom", he din used the zoom function on the camera. He was in fact physically moving in and out, all the times, in a small HDB house. He can even moved like close to 10cm from the subject!! Most of the times, I was trying very hard to avoid getting him into the pictures. He seemed to forget that there's another person trying to take pictures too.

That's the reason why sometimes i need to remind myself to give some space and opportunities for others too, while concentrating my photo takes. Well, guess we are all trying to get our job done after all.

Having said all that, if one day i am videotaped, i hope i wouldn't behave like those irritating photographers caught on tape!!!!

 It is always good to be aware of your surroundings and situations. A little bit more consideration will certainly help and please everybody.

2003 in Melbourne, i went to Crown Casino, and there's a regulation to deposit all bags at a manned locker counter. The old lady there is (i swear) one of the nicest person i ever seen in my entire life. She took her job with extremely great pride and she is so courteous and kind towards every guests! Back then i just felt like giving her a big hug! The feeling is just so heartwarming that she left a very deep impression in my heart.

In Singapore, it's quite hard (at least for me) to find workers who leave a good impression. It seems like many people work with 'black faces'. Long way to go for Singapore to provide good service. That's why they come out with GEMS.

2005 in Sweden, and saw construction workers who are very very handsome, have looks good enough to be actor. And needless to say, everybody is very satisfied with what they do, regardless of any jobs, there's no status whatsoever.

In Singapore construction works generally are regarded as Bangladeshi, are being look down upon by others.

Photography wise, i don't know why so many people like to call us 'cameraman'. Ain't cameraman the videographer?
And i've seen some Singaporeans who think that it's not good to marry a photographer husband.. why? He will take r(A) pictures of his wife and if there's any huge arguement or divorce, the pictures may start circulating on the internet.
