When do you know its time to upgrade your camera?

If you ask that qn then it's not the time to upgrade.

My upgrading reasons: 1. Camera spoil
2. You need better mechanical features to venture into specific areas of photography which the camera you hold currently faces the difficulty to cope. E.g. af system slow for fast moving action, fps low, buffering of raw images slow or working with low light with no flashes allowed and all you can depend on is high iso. Then some models aren't that good at high ISO performances.

Of course that is provided you have tried various techniques and the body doesn't quite meet up to your expectations.

Lol, fact is there are wants and needs. Do people really need weather proofing, fast AF , excellent High ISO IQ? Wager 95% of the time hobbyists don't really need this. It is your money, everyone has a different financial situation. I upgrade when I can well afford ( with loads of room to spare) to, and the camera I have cannot meet my personal demands of it. It is not a single determinant that dictates if you should upgrade.

Yea man, Really hope that i strike to-to tonight.
I had my pentax K-x with me for about 2 years now and I think I have reach the end of the road with the camera.
Its really a good Dslr for a beginner but I was thinking should I be changing it now?

So why do you think you have reached the end of the road? I hope it's not because some friends told you , "Dude, your photos are great, you should upgrade!"

I have done photography for 4 years and I'm using an entry level camera because frankly, it is really all I need.

Do I want something better? Sure , if I have a lot of money to spare. Do I need it? Sadly , the answer is no.

though sometimes it's nice to indulge your 'wants', provided you don't stretch your finances of course.
If buying a more expensive camera makes you feel more 'shiok' and want to go out and take more photos, so be it.

Upgrade only when the camera is no longer working and the repair can cost a hole in your wallet like what happened to my E3. Well i'm glad it happened then got reason (excuse) to upgrade. :bsmilie:
