Essentially the UV filter is meant to block out UV rays , more apt for film but for Digital cams , not much use. U might want to check what brand of filter you are using .

But it will serve as a lens protector at the moment for you. Only caution is , if the filter is one of low quality , it will result in loss of IQ .

eh... i like the idea if beyond economical repair and they will replace another model with a similar pricing... thats y i went ahead on that...

the uv filter is Steinzeiser 49mm... is it okay?
