Hey, you forgot to add in the specs of your camera and lenses...

"What settings/lens/camera/software you use for this photo ah?" :D

not only talking about watermark on images here, if it is, I don't think TS will want to start this thread.

Please refer to the initial post by TS and the sample images post by night86mare.

anyway, the watermark we see on stock images are created by the stock agency, photographers are not allowed to add border or names on images.

I was referring to his post about watermarking.

Actually simple border can help the viewer to focus on the actual image and watermark is protection against leaching of images......

That why i post my images this way. :bsmilie:

i like the picture vs border ratio:thumbsup: but composition wise i think maybe you can position the picture using the rule of third would be better (composition within composition). also maybe you can use the font "Curlz MT" and change the colour to neon green, that will give it more class and dynamics...

as a craftsman, or an artist, usually don't tell people what kind of tools or paint brushes they use. and also don't tell people how they create their works or arts,

To me, cameras, lenses, all are tools too, so I don't list what camera or lenses and the setting I use.

And long gone are the days I use borders on my images, I would like people to focus just on the image and the creator, nothing more, nothing less...................

.................. just the photo and the photographer.

The Zen spirit...focus only on what's the most important...

The cute complicated retarded borders ... no idea why do people use them.

For the watermark, many people are getting paranoid over the use of their images on tha internet.
I saw an article about someone's family photo blown up to like A1 size for an ad (without permission) a few days ago, lost the link.

i think elaborate borders are actually quite nice :)

you are absolutely mistaken.

this is a serious discussion here, but we discuss it in a light hearting manner, in case of some jokers can't take a serious discussions or comments in any way.

You are absolutely correct.

That's why I refrain from posting in it.

Seriously this is a serious matter that should be treated with seriouness.

this looks so great, even with the watermark all over it...!

I haven't checked back on this thread for a day or two since posting my rant, and I must admit I'm relieved it's not just me that has this feeling! I laughed and laughed at some of the examples posted here. Glad to see this forum has a good sense of humor.

Re watermarks, I guess it's really a personal thing. I think a simple watermark with your name is a fine way to let people know who took the image. But as for paranoia about use of the images, unless you really think there is some commercial value, then I just don't get it. If someone reposts my images, or prints them out on a billboard, great. What was I going to do with them anyway - stuff them away on a hard drive somewhere, or at best print out a few and put them in a photobook? Just my 2c.

i fully agree that borders should be simple and tastefully elegant. watermarks should also refrain from being overly stand-offish. i rather prefer a friendlier, chattier and more informative approach myself.
