F100...hmmm I did ask, but can't remember how much the shop (Wing Shing Photo Supplies Co.) quote me, but definitely >S$1800, as my intention is to get F100 if the price is <S$1800. :D

Anyway, I've start shooting using F80S during my trip.
The feel and features are really much better than F65D !!!
No regret getting it, save the rest of the money to get
other stuff. ;)

wowwww....i bought my at S$800+ 1.5 years ago..D version somemore.....anyway welcome to the F80 club ! do u buy the MB16 ? is a must for me.....and dun forget to buy the SB50dx too, it work beautifully with my 80...(especially the 90¢X tilt head+DIY bounce card + bulit-in flash with Diffuser on combo...perfectly no harse shadow...)

Thanks man!:D
I'm considering whether to buy MB16? Not sure whether it will be useful to me. :dunno:

Why SB50Dx? I though SB28DX might be a better match?
BTW, how much does SB50DX cost?
Actually, I do have plans in getting a good speedlight, but just wondering, which one offers a better value for money. :)

If you are thinking of the 28DX, then get the 80DX. The 80DX costs $100 less than the 28DX. $540 or so only. 50DX is not worth the money - less power than a SB22S, but cost more and uses CR123s. :(

CK

emm...half agree :) my reason of choosing 50 over the other 2 are:
1) if u seldom take big party, what pay double for SB28 or 80 ? Sb50 is good for portrait, been using it for 1/2 year, no regret esp. the 1/2 price tag of sb28...but take note u can not rotate in the horizontal direction and not indicator for flash distance field.
2) the dual flash + diffuser mode that specially design for F80...wat else can i say ? i use it almost 80% of the time i use the flash exp big group.
3) the cheapest DX flash in the range...i'm trying to get a coopix5000 if i found some budget, so this small flash will not look odd if attch onto the DC.....but the SB28or80 sure make the combo unbalance.
4) myth on battery : i just change 1 set after around 10 rolls of 100% flash shot ( i deducted those non-flash count)...not really take suck lah...
5) if u die die want a bigger flash, go for SB80dx as what CK suggested...well for me, my 80% photo content is landscape, i'll rather spend the $$ for a 3rd party ultra-wide lenses :)

thought u can get other 3rd party bigger flash vs 50dx, but i just want Nikon :) (i'm iron-tooth lah..)

if u are party photogrpaher eg. wedding, D&D....GET THE SB80DX...no compromise...

My main beef with the SB-50DX is the stupid batteries.. CR123A.. owwwwwwwww!

as i said...the battery drained after i took around 360 exposure with the flash...to me, it is rather good compare to a DC lah....

By the way, i'm not trying to praise the 50 'cos i own this.....i rather want to emphasis that if i got $$$, and if i want a Nikon, i'll still get the SB80DX :)...same for the body: F5+SB80DX OR D100+SB80DX.....only in dream..

MB16 - better grip if u own a zoom lens above 100mm...my 28-105 is heavier then the body itself, with MB16+AA batteries, it make the CG more balance to the center. and u can use rechargable batteries...

Yup! Agreed.
I do have a Tamrom 24-13mm SP len.
It is somehow heavy, thus the CG has been shifted forward, making balancing of the carmera with the len somehow difficult.

Maybe should get it, anyway any idea how much does it cost?
If getting the MB16, then have to consider getting a better tripod as well. hmmm... $$$$$

i bought my 1 year ago at S$120 at fotoguide during stock scarce period......should be cheaper now...

1 year back, it was $900+ for F80S, and F80D is just $700+, I was also wondering if I should give that $200 for that function. And I did pay that extra for F80S. Not a bad function, cos for every Over/Underexpose picture that I taken in Manual mode, I know what mistake I made. What speed the shutter should be for certain effect. Learn alots thru this way.
But acturally your could do that with a pen & notepad, but I admit that I too lazy and unorganise to be able to keep this record for long. I think after F80S there isn't another camera that had this function.

I read the spec, there don't seem to have a vertical shutter release on the grip. What other uses it had other then making use of 4 AA batteries and making the camera bigger and heavier?:dunno:
Also I thinking of getting the SB50DX or SB80DX but still can't make up my mind, Don't know their price/size/weight different. If I buy a 50DX then I will maybe DIY a blacket to hold the flash upright when taking vertical shots (just a thought :light: )
BTW can SB80DX flash head be rotated to take vertical shots? Or maybe I will get it for the reason that it is SB80DX...
F80S with SB80DX! ;)

Yes ! that's the only purpose for MB16....add weight :)
As for 80s + 80dx, if ur pocket allow...why not ? no hesistate ! (with the bulkier SB80dx, may be u got another reason to get the MB16 :))
