People Of Raffles

Everyday with the exception of Sunday, People of Raffles toil and brave much hardship from train seat grabbing to crazy shouting aunties and tissue paper reservation tactics to do their daily grind.

People of Raffles are generally stressed and when they see outlets of relaxation they will do whatever it takes to seize it.

Nice series Bro, really nice captures of candid street moments... btw, do you use tele lens most of the time, during your shoots?

Wow, nice moment and good composition. :) it look like the bird is hopping up the stairs.

Thanks! Yeap, actually thats what it was doing. =)

Thank you! On the Contrary.. I use ultra wide angle and 50mm f1.8 most of the time. LoL I have bad isolation skills using telezoom.

I find it an enjoyment to look out for your rabbit...

btw is there any rabbit in this one?? hahaha

LOL, I think it got lost in chinatown! lol I don't put the rabbit anymore unfortunately because I save the larger files without watermark. =/

Photos taken today from a canon 1000d with 18-55 is kit lens. The Most basic set-up I have. Wanted to see if I could actually come up with something with a camera that is pretty much an oversized compact camera.

Hey Jon, nice pictures :)

I've always wanted to ask about shooting strangers ... and since you're on 50mm you are pretty darn up close.

Aside from having nerves of steel to shooting strangers, what do you do when you're done taking the photos? Eg, in your photo shockcore. That guy must be like "omg u shoot me nakeed"! What do you do in response? Give a thumbs up:thumbsup:? Smile? Compliment him on his playing? Or just walk away (w or w/o smilling).

And one more..you're probably the only person so far i've come across that does off-shoe lighting in street photography. Do you have an assistant? Or you use a lightstand/tripod? I mean, all of these obviously takes time and attracts attention. U just shoot? Or you ask permission...lol.

Just hoping to learn more on shooting ethics from different photographers :)

Hi, most of the time, if the person is walking towards me, I let them pass before putting down my camera.. also known as act as if he was blocking my shot... lol In shockcore, I was just sitting there quietly shooting him from the back while teaching a friend some approaches and compostions when he turned around and looked all shocked out.. I guess it's all about reaction times and previsualization.

As for what I do after my photo, well it all really depends on the individual, if they were nice and friendly I'd say thanks but if they gave the black face.. well.. I gots me a pretty black face and ah beng gold hair too... lol

I really think it's crazy to do strobbing in street photography due to the candidness needed. But when pulled off I think it is simply beautiful! That said, I don't do it often since I go out alone mostly.

If I do, I try to have a friend nearby to watch over the light stands while I get compositions which can get pretty far away.

very entertaining photos *thumbsup*
