True. I saw 12mm samples of the sigma 12-24 taken by 1Ds, pics of Antartica landscape. Wow!

Hmm....crop the pic ah. Not to say that you can't, but then you see if you have shot birdies before (not the big ones like kites, hornbills, herons), it usually doesn't look that nice at 100%, esp when you are shooting wide open to get the required shutter speed (sometimes you need to have that for capturing in-flight pics). Having the bird fill up like at least 50% of the frame (width or height) would be nice, you can print at least 5R stuff very nicely.

So you gain some, you lose some.....i guess some will find it advantageous, others don't.
