I do not have enough experience with sunrise, but I can confidently say that I have shot a lot of sunsets. =D

So yes, I have been trying to write a sunset in Singapore thread which would hopefully stay relevant for some time at least - after all, what is more cliched in photography than a sunset? Thus it should be the first thing everyone interested in photography tries.

Sunset gushing aside, other than locations and things to watch out for etc, do you think people would really want to know how to compose etc? I don't know, for me what I always do is I go there, I browse threads to see what people have been shooting at that location, on flickr also, then I just go there to shoot.

All ideas and suggestions are welcome. As well as help on locations which are not quite so accessible by public transport; these are the locations I've been to and shot so quite familiar

-Changi Boardwalk (duh)
-Chinese Gardens
-Lower Peirce
-Upper Peirce
-Raffles Marina
-Punggol Beach
-Punggol LRT track
-Punggol West
-MacRitchie
-Mathilda house area
-Labrador Park
-Bedok Reservoir
-Lim Chu Kang End
-Sentosa (I think Palawan) beach
-Kallang Basin
-Upper Seletar
-Esplanade Rooftop

any other suggestions will be welcome, I know I've missed out on
-Yishun Dam for sure
-Pulau Ubin - have done sunrise there but not sunset

Many thanks

Pulau Tekong!

You kidding me

Cannot bring camera in-camp la, must be more realistic - locations which do not include infringing the law hahaha

If not I also want to shoot from the President's bedroom lor

Eh, serious thread la

Wa lau next time I post in Landscapes

I tried Yishun Dam in July..mus go to the part between the Dam and Seletar airport.. cannot take from the dam itself (ie behind the lower seletar reservoir) .. cos the Sun sets almost "along" or "parallel" to the dam.. if you get wat i mean..

I think must depend on the time of the year also.. as the sun "goes down at different places" during different time..

Ok, thanks for input, will include this =)

argh.. i woke up at 7pm to see a very intense orange in the sky and the sun already setting behind the blocks opposite me... can only watch helplessly.. haha....

very nice sunset today... hope someone was out shooting sunset today and rewarded with the nice sunset!!!

oh and night86mare>> it will helpful if you can include "signs" at eg.6pm, that tell you whether the sunset that day will be good. 1 thing for sure, the clouds present will largely afffect how the sunset will turn out. If its overcast with large cumulonimbus clouds and the sun hidden behind it, chances are the sunset will be dull and muted. If altocumulus clouds are present, chances are the sunset will be good!

I've seen beautiful orange/reddish sunsets at chinatown with old people walking around me.
Evokes different feeling.

sunsets at urban areas can b very interesting

Yar, I saw it when I was at WOMAD, sian. Fort Canning got no vantage point or I'd go and find a spot to shoot.

Signs at 6 pm? Hrm. Yar, true, good idea.

bumping for more contributions, thx in advance
