what will you do if someone give critics of your photos?

I have observed that sometime, photographers dun like people to give negative critics of their photos, when give good one, they are happy and when receive negative ones, they start defensive and face turn black.

this is common, human nature, everyone like to hear ONLY good things, photographers are not exception.

but to learn, one have to be open minded about positive and negative comments.

what makes you think they want to learn?

is it because they display a "L" somewhere? :bsmilie:

It's sad to see some people post photos and comparing last time and today's photos, no improvement. I so itchy mouth, criticise them and point out obvious faults and kenna backfired!

and to learn to give critques that encourage the photographer to be better?

Faster post your photos and lock the thread immediately. :bsmilie:

Have your clones or friends come in and comment ":thumbsup::thumbsup:" or "Wah! Nose Bleed!"

Must also learn to see good points and must not only see only bad points e.g.

"Although your photo is shot under unflattering midday lighting, but your trees are straight and your sky is blue and not green etc. etc."

its common to feel bed when someone gives negative critics,
but for those who want to learn, this bad feelings will fade very soon, and they improve on what's bad about their photos (given the critics are good critics though)

well... then i ask this qn...

does the photographer process the critique first, before jumping the gun? towards both praises and criticisms

some people just cannot separate ideas from their emotions. these kind of ppl, give them honest critique, honest opinion, will never work. i never waste my time on them.

on the other hand, there are people who can view things objectively. sometimes they know their work lacks something, so when ppl give false praises, they can sense it.
and when ppl give honest constructive and reasonable critique, they can accept, and learn from there.

being defensive is ok. its good to stick with ur guns sometimes. but overly defensive, for no reason, is stupid.

I gave constructive critics and I even gave her suggestiions on where to crop, etc.

some people just want to have thier balls lick sometimes as they feel that what they have produced is perfect.

if they cannot take it then next time don have to waste your time to help.

the safest way is to check the posters past history, you will know is it worth you time to post critics on their photos.
