A 2nd battery. It really sucks to run out of juice shooting halfway especially when you are outdoors.

Get off your seat and start shooting ! ;)

You should be probably getting a good camera bag to protect your precious camera, cleaning accessories like a blower, proper cloth and lenspen and maybe a tripod.

i think tripod can wait la... not really necessary unless u are shooting long exposures...
find out what u wan to shoot first...:)

protection comes first!

uv filter, lenspen, dry cabinet/box, proper camera bag

1) get a filter to protect the front element of the lens.
2) get a dry cabinet.
3) go library to read up on photography.
4) learn the proper tech. to hand the camera when shooting as well as understand the relationship between iso, shutter speed and aperture. depth of field and freezing the subject motion.
5) go out and start shooting.
6) compare compositions of you photos with the books and magazine, but i feel sharpness and color not so important as this normally can be improve by getting better lens.
7) build from there.

Start shooting.

Yea, i think you can worry about other accessories later.
(but get the drybox ASAP! & the lens cleaning kit!) :o

just have fun shooting with what you have the trusty 18-55mm and learn to fully utilize the system you have (by that i mean getting the hang of manual settings xD)

after snapping away, then you can start asking yourself: could i have captured a better shot with a telephoto? do i need a tripod because i shake too much? should i buy a macro lens because the kit lens is inadequate?

imo, thats how you should purchase stuff without wasting $$$

P.S- ok la, i'm a poor JC student:sweat: shot only with kit lens, tripod and a borrowed 55-200mm for 2 years before i decided to get a 55-200VR and a 105mm macro :D
