I am not expert in insurance.
But from what I hear, if you travel oversea, the total maximum coverage is $500 only for camera and accessories.

According to my Insurance Agent, Camera equipment is covered is you declare it within your home insurance programme; so I declared, but never have had to claim.....touch wood.

Your travel insurance should cover the replacement cost of all your equipment. It's a good habit to purchase travel insurance as it will take care of "touch wood" any accidents. Most will pay up to $200,000 to get you back to sg for treatment.

Apologies to the thread starter for going off topic.

 I wish that is the case too!

However, if you read the fine prints, many (if not all) travel insurance pay up to a TOTAL of like $500 for personal artefacts. Good if you have a receipt for $500 for a P&S camera, and probably can just cover for the lens if you have a dSLR.

You have to take on additional insurances for the equipment by tagging on your home insurance etc. Loading is about 2% of the value of the equipment. That is to say, if your equipment costs $2000 on the receipt, you pay ($2000 x 2% = )$40 per year to cover for it's loss/damage. Check with your insurance rep for details.
