Pro Image said:If your camera can support CF II then why not buy the the 1GB instead of the slower CF. Agree with ITguy that EastGear is selling those in Sitex. Try to call them. You need not go to Sitex if you are just looking for CF cards. Really not much offer. EastGear is located @ 1st Peninsular.

Is there any stall that sells CF cards ?
What brand is that ?

theITguy said:For your information, Compact Flash card has both Type I and Type II. It is merely just a form of packaging. MicroDrive is not the same in terms of technology to the CF card regardless of the Type I or II. MicroDrive is in a disk form with wrtie/read head while CF consists of NAND or other type of solid state memory.

reachme2003 said:Type I and II are physically different i.e. type II is twice as thick as type I. type II have more flash memory embedded in it, resulting in larger capacity. Camera which uses type I cannot accomodate type II.
To say that their difference 'is merely just a form of packaging' is misleading.

theITguy said:1. Type I and II is not a form of packaging, does it means that a 128MB Compact Flash card cannot exists in Type II?
2. Answer to 1. is no, because a 128MB CF card can exists in a Type II packaging, but just no one makes it does not mean it cannot exists. There is also a 170MB, 340MB, 1GB, 2GB and 4GB card existing in a Type II packaging, and these are the MicroDrive from Hitachi.
3. Type I allows up to 2GB while Type II allows more than 2GB++.
4. I did not deny or admit that Type I or II is physically different. Tell me which part of my post says their difference "is merely a form of pachaging". Do not put words in my mouth.
5. For Type II cards, either flash or Disk drives can be put inside as a memory card. Therefore, it is also wrong to say that "type II have more flash memory embedded in it, resulting in larger capacity", because with no flash memory (with disk) the capacity can also be larger.
6. "Camera which uses type I cannot accomodate type II". I have a G5 that can use Type I like many other cameras. But why did these "many other cameras" also can use Type II cards?
If you do not know what is Type I, II, microdrive or flash memory, please go and read it up than say I am misleading others.

4.
5. Inaccurate might be a better word than wrong.
This is just a discussion on technical issue, there is no need to get upset about it.
