Yup. If you are on a $200 budget, then you can try the Braun Novamat 515AF for $210 or so. But $300 go for Leica.

AF is a bit quirky and overally a bit flimsy.

So much for the projector itself ... what about the projection screen ?

Other than using a white wall ...how much would it cost to get a proper screen ?

however i expect the remote control focus to work? just more troublesome rite.. a good one has sharp AF huh...

flimsy, but, does it break apart?

what kind of slide projectors are those with round carousels that we used to use in like secondary school, JC etc? those are lower end?

The Braun does not have remote focus, kind of a pain.

Most projectors with AF need to manually focus on the first slide. The projector will adjust itself for subsequent slides. For the Braun, this seems erractic sometimes.

Flimsy, but won't break apart. Flimsy as in the lens is a bit loose, the slide feeder is not quite solid etc. I have one, so I know. :)

Those round carousel ones are by Kodak, got lots of models - Kodak Carousel, Ektagraphic, Ekta Pro, etc. Those are very expensive, even for the lower end models. These are generally very solidly built.

Sorry, made a mistake, my bad. :embrass:

It should be Pradovit 150 IR, which should be around $300.

The Leica 150P comes with a standard lens, so u don't need extra budget for lens.

S$250 CP price a year ago... :)

Not sureleh...b'cause I chose to buy loupe+light panel later...

so Leica 150P sounds like the best deal at $250 with reasonable quality.

Is a remote very useful? Does focus keep shifting a lot from slide to slide? If so a manual one would require adjusting every frame, that's so troublesome. Autofocus would really come in handy.

I guess I'm considering something with reasonable ease of use, nothing luxurious but not something u'll have headaches over.

Thanks for all the input!

The remote is useful for changing slides away from the projector, so you can stand near the screen to present, for e.g. Obviously IR one is more useful than wired one. Most projectors have AF now, so it will adjust for minor focus errors with each slide.
