Just want to be doubly sure of it's shortcommings Anyway, I spoke to one of the Canon guys in Sitex about the difference between the 800 and 820, seems like only the borderless part, rest all the same.

I was at PK @ Funan yesterday, and I took the last S800 they had there. selling at $299 and I got myself a LiDE 20 scanner too.

Just got the S800 at PK (Funan), they still have 1 more, just in case anybody is interested

Can't believe they gave me a $5 macdonald vouchers to help them clear stock.

that's cool! I tot I had the last one maybe they brought one out from their storeroom. Try using Canon High Resolution paper, it prints pretty decent photo quality pictures...

oh btw, before I forget, Canon has this rewards program called Canon Plus which gives u points when u buy certain Canon products; when I bought my S800, I have enough points to redeem a pack of the Photo Paper Pro! not bad huh?

Yeah, tried on the bundled 4R photo paper pro. I'm hard pressed to tell the diff between that and the one I got RGB to print. Considering that it cost about $1.1 - $1.2 per A4 size of that photo paper pro, I'll be looking around for alternatives.

That canon plus webby like not updated since April. According to the website, the S800 is still eligible for 1200 pts , but the new CanoScan 5000f wasn't listed .....

You could try the Epson Heavyweight Matte paper, at S$20 for 50pcs, are value for money. They also have the double-sided version (at about S$27) & the archival.

I have used both Canon PPP & Epson Heavyweight, and I like both, but the PPP has a glossy feel to it, and is rather reflective, I prefer matte. Otherwise both render the details just fine, to me at least.

I print on the Epson using Glossy Photo Paper setting on the printer settings.

I tried this based on user recommendations at DPreview, and quite frankly, I was quite skeptical at first, but after two stacks of printing, I can say that I'm quite satisfied.

I now use the double-sided for my index prints and file them, and the single-sided for my larger prints 4R/8R etc. and to give to friends/relatives the many photos of my kid.

I don't mind snail-mailing you a couple of A4's to try, just PM me with your mailing address

I read it on DPreview as well and elsewhere. Seems like if you can stand the matt, it looks great.

The prints from my G1 looks great. I'm now struggling with scans from my newly acquired CS5000F (It's a flatbed, can't afford the FS4000/LS-4000 etc). Too many toys, too little time

I'm still trying to figure out the optimal settings and will try to upload some sample scans, so stay tuned!

BTW, I got the scanner at Sitex for $399 loh, can go redeem a USB2.0 PCI card also. In case you have too high an expectation, just remember the scanner cost _$399_, hope that gives you some hints
