 next time u wanna 'dispose' ur lenses.. pls do let me know.. btw, i stay sengkang too.. i rush over to ur place..hahaha

I did not have the intention to sell any of the 24-70s for a better copy. It was like each time, I wanted to give up photography.

I keep minimal lenses now. I own only 3 lenses. Easier to get out one day, if it should come.

as u can see, i'm very free now.. hahaha

duno if this has been done b4.. checkin out the L lenses demography in CS
Hi Niki, why don't you put in the remaining Ls? All the long ones seem to be missing. Curious about the demongraphic too.

eerr.. coz the poll option limits the choices to 15.. unless u wanna start another one?:dunno:

The 28-70 is not better. If you're complaining about sharpness, send it in to Canon for calibration with your cam.

I have had 3 copies of 24-70 before over the years. My latest copy is sharp at f2.8 at 24mm, 28mm, 35mm and 70mm focal lengths.

I beg to differ as I had the 28-70 prior to this before it was decommissioned. It's my own preference.

You missed out on many other L lenses - ones like 200mm f2.8 MkII, 300mmf2.8, f4.0L, 400mmf2.8,f5.6, 500/600/1,200mm, etc.

Hi Niki / Everyone

i am new. wat is a L lens???

for hobby folks, i have a strategy of buying: because if we buy L lens throughout the entire zoom range, its going to be very expensive

hence in a bid to cut cost, i have a personal buying strategy of restricting L lens purchase to telephotos only. for wide angles and normal (50mm thereabouts) focal lengths, i strictly do not buy L lens. so u will have more $$$ left to play around with a wider variety of non L lens at short focal lengths.

example: instead of spending $1000 to buy the EF17-40L , depending on your dslr's crop factor, you could have bought EF24-85mm along with a EF50mm/1.8 and still have a few hundred dollars left either to save or spend on something else

the other time i saw one guy buy a 30d and 24-105L brand new straight from TCW. he paid about $3500 on the spot. i was thinking for about the same kind of picture quality that could be procuded, he could have bought a used 20d lying on the same TCW display shelf and a 24-85mm..total cost would be $1600. thats a $3500-$1600 = $1900 dollars difference:think:

True true... I agree with you... I love shooting WA and i have my 70-210 to cover the tele whenever the need arises:)

i feel the itch to fulfil this target 2dae... hhmm...
would anyone be kind enough to tell me if it will be silly to own the 17-40 and 24-70 at the same time..? knowing the strength and the weakness of both..range vs f stop..
fyi, i dun hv money to burn.. :( keke..

I don't find it silly to own both but I do feel silly if I needed someone else to justify the lenses I buy.

haha.. yea.. think u r rite.. so i went for the 17-40 2dae already..

For mi.. it's somewhat the reverse.

I get Ls for shorter fl and for long lenses... go for 3rd party. cost savings would be more significant. image quality shouldn't differ too much as it's prime.

reason is that I use shorter fl more and I use zooms.. so non-L image quality have more significant differences.

same here, i use the range 17 to 70 (on a crop sensor) most often. so if i buy L, i'll go for that range first. now still no L haha

Ahh shocks....
sadly i don't own one:angry: .........and gladly looking for a cheep one;) ...anybody got one for repair for sale??
Thanks

Ah... looks like the 17-40 is the most popular ones now!

u forgot at least 5 VIP L lenses:
300/2.8 IS L
400/2.8 IS L
14/2.8 L
50/1.0 L
200/1.8 L

so many old canon fans own those 5 VIPs.

Can the owners of 50mm and 85mm post some pictures to share?
These certainly are the lens to drool for......;p ;p ;p

You sure? :sweatsm: For the last two, I haven't even seen anyone personally owning those....I think I only know one guy in CS who has the 200/1.8L ...he put it up for sale some time back.

I thought I saw someone with a photo of a 50mm f/1.0. Don't know whether it's his.

The only L i have is the 135 f2.
