Hmm, IMHO, if you want a new lens, buy tamron 17-50, cover a 'ok' wide (~27 mm on crop)
if you don't mind 2nd hand, can get EF 17-55, but going to be more ex, even it is 2nd hand...

If you choose Tamron 24-75, means u need add another ultra wide angle (in order to take wide angle pic), like EF10-22 or whatever...

Tamron doesn't make a 24-75. They make a 28-75.

Hi all Canon Users.
Been using my DSLR for quite some time and learnt alot about Photography.
Now I am thinking of replacing the kits lens with one of the following lenses.

Tokina 16-50 F2.8 http://www.tokinalens.com/products/tokina/atx165prodx-a.html
Tamron 28-75 F2.8 http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/2875mm.asp
Tamron 17-50 F2.8 http://www.tamron.com/lenses/prod/1750_diII_a016.asp
Sigma 24-70 F2.8 http://sigmaphoto.com/lenses/lenses_all_details.asp?id=3356&navigator=2

I specialize in indoor photography like concerts and would also use it as general purpose lens for holidays or outings. How is the quality of these lenses and which can be said to be the best?

Hey, so what lens did u get eventually? I got the exact same dilemma as you and my budget is only $400.

Lots of advice. Might as well add my own :-)

I've used the Tamrons (the 17-50 and 28-75). both are great. it is a matter of your focal range needs.

But if you have the 55-250 then go straight to the 17-50.
