Mainly classical, excluding avant-garde 20th century stuff from the likes of Shostakovich, etc.

Heh, it takes a different ear to hear what Shostakovich, Scriabin, Prokofiev, Schoenberg and the like are trying to do :)

It took me quite a while to get "into" them but then you realize that the message is not in the melody - it is in the mood they are trying to create. Sometimes they make really ugly sounds but the fascination is in how these ugly sounds translate into a musical message.

Things to try:
Mahler Symphony No. 6 (best version is - surprise - by Karajan)
Mahler Symphony No. 9 (try to get the 1938 Bruno Walter if you can find it)
Scriabin Piano Sonatas (try to get Horowitz!)
Prokofiev Piano Concertos - still trying to find the best version.

I just looked in my CD library and found that I have 8 different versions of Mahler's 9th!

I still enjoy Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Schubert but 20th century composers have moved the game on. They're harder to understand but it's really worth a try IMO.

The Kindergarten kind?

I have two young daughters (3 & 7) and the house is almost always filled with the happy, overplayed strains of "Three blind mice", "The farmer in the dell..." et al

But on occasions such as now,(they're out marketing w the mother) I enjoy the sounds of silence!

But I like Rock-Leppard,Bon Jovi,Journey,FireHouse etc.,and recently I'm smitten by Hey Ya!

I mostly listen to rock, pop and jazz (mostly straight jazz).
The artistes that I am recently listening to most of the time are Sarah Mclachlan & Norah Jones.

The latest CD that I bought? Joss Stone's "The Soul Sessions"... :D

anything from country western like Grath Brooks to matel like Pentera..
anything the make me happy lah i guess .. all time fav is Matellica and CCR not forgettin underwear man - tom jones

hehehe

I meant: its quiet now and enjoying it...

And yes, I do occasionally enjoy listening to Paul Simon...

And young enough...

Next question? :bsmilie:

oldies, new age and some pop songs

Mostly new age and instrumentals (Jim Brickman etc)...female vocals ...don't ask me why :D

Sometimes oldies like Garfunkel, Bryan Ferry, Bee Gees and Air Supply.... :bsmilie:

My current favourites are Emi Fuijita and Josh Groban.
