I dun really charge according to those who so call " Professional" because i find the price is simply too high. I am not a pro photographer and didnt really do it as a biz, but i take photohgraphy as a serious hobby and somethings help average pple at a low rate.
Sometimes u need to know who u are to quaified such rates.
well, if a pro charges at $1000K and above. The must really have who it takes.
I provided extremely low rates to suits everybody, not daylight robbery.
In the end of the day, look into the mirror and ask,
"Dun keep asking about market rate. " U should ask yrself how much you are worth with yr true skills"
Its like these days, everyoone wanna be superstars, according to the market, ask long as u can sing, young...etc, u could be one of em...
However do u really have what it takes to be a True superstar???
Take it like those "Miss Singapores.." Totally cannot make it and yet they are being selected.
My conclusion is ...
Do not follow market rate blindly.
Ask yrself if you are worthly at that rate. If you are, then go ahead.
No offeneces, Just some personal thoughts.
well, as it had been mentioned before by many others, it's gonna be tough for you to raise your price when you're already in the low rate league.
what you are doing is going to help you fund some of your gears, satisfy your shooting urge, and ultimately, telling many others why bother to pay so much and engage the pros, when the hobbist can do it for minimal or even for FOC?
How do you guage ppl who can't afford to pay for a pro?
It's a common practice for everyone to go around telling ppl they have low/no budget for this and that and ask for discount.
how do you know they're telling the truth?
there's nothing wrong doing what you're doing now, charging low, or even FOC, but i feel that the least you can do is
NOT to teach others to charge at your rate too.
What made you think you are qualified enough to give a guideline for the price of photography services in a public forum like this?
Let me say this again, please get your facts right before making statements like "$400 a day should be charge by very professional photographers who has been thru many events & shooting".
this might lead to many others thinking that it's the rate of the pros too...
I might not in any position to make this statement, but at least i know i am stating facts, and solid facts which many others would've agreed with me.
