tamron 17-50 f/2.8 also very sharp, comparable with 17-55 f/2.8 from canon just sharpness wise

there is thing called build, and also, any additional perks you get with a lens (for want of better word), you pay exponential prices.

Thanks...this is what I am looking for...thank you.

For Canon, get the EF 200mm f2L IS and shoot at F8 on a 5D Mk2. There isn't anything sharper from Canon. Trust me.

From Canon, maybe. But other camps have gems too. ;)

This is not the only pics, I have others which are not sharp at all too...anyway, I am asking bout the sharpness. The subject is well-lit, why care bout the background?

the subject is well lit in what sense?
or does it seem well lit in your monitor?
if thats the case I think you better calibrate your monitor as well.

Background is dark because of the flash?

Looking at the exif, it was shot on 550d+18-55is. While the 18-55is is pretty good for a kit lens, it is definately not what I will call a sharp lens.

I don't know why it turned out so dark, In in The background is a monitor with a blank white screen and my iPhone is also a white screen.

Oooooh. That's because you have zero skills/knowledge about metering and exposure.

And before you do a "product shoot" it helps to wipe off all your fingerprints.

Maybe I will post more pics when I exchange back the 7d with my sis, she in Sweden holiday now, 550d don't have weather proof. Also, results is the same on my 7d, just color a bit warmer

If your lighting set up using your monitor screen + Iphone 3G(or even 4G) tat got ppl queing in midnight and declare that your subject is well lit...then this lady photographer must be smoking crack for doing so much here.... :bsmilie:

Using an iPhone as a Pad to support a Rolex? May iPad will work better as a Pad?

Anyway, TS mentioned he can get the sharpest lens regardless of the price and probably he has convinced most that he really can afford to do that..

What's wrong with the picture?

See? It's not the camera or lens. It's you. and why do you need a weather-sealed lens for very poor indoor shots of a watch?

Thomas123123,

If your other pictures were taken with the same lens and camera that took the Rolex picture which we have all established to be sharp, then it is a photographer problem not a lens problem.

Many of us take better pictures with lesser equipment than what you have.

You acknowledge the colours of your pictures are off while others CSers look great.
Once again it is a skill problem. Not lens.

Instead of starting a thread to look for an uber lens which will never improve your skills, why not start or contribute into a thread on how to take better picture?

See a picture that you like in CS? Ask the person how to go about taking it.

And when you ask, ask nicely. Your tone is totally off.

We don't owe you a living. We could have just told you to get whatever lenses out there and it won't help you. Nightmare86 has been enough to tell you that your picture is sharp. What more do you want?

Many in this forum are experienced hobbyist. Others are semi-pro and others pro.

You should be ashamed of yourself. Your arrogance and stucked up attitude leaves me and I believe some others here with no choice but to ignore your posts fr now on.

Ooooh...same rolex as mine.

We now more or less understand you have the means to enjoy luxurious/quality stuffs...however, buying expensive equipment doesn't necessary make one a good photographer and thus, vice versa is also true...if you think your problem can be solved by just buying "another sharper lens", then I would recommend you hire a photographer to help you shoot your precious watch..coz learning photography is not as simple as just pumping money...

I'm frank, but I point out so that you don't carry on to be a sucker/carot head...if you still do, my offer is still on for the legendary "sharpest lens"...:bsmilie:

I believe if you go ahead and buy the sharpest lens with the current shooting skill, the end result will still be the same. Don't waste your money.

This one is taken with the Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 (with flash) :

your white balance seems to be totally off. Learn to get the exposure right first, then learn the technique to take sharper photo. Be humble and listen to the advises from those senior.

believe me, when you buy an L lens, the rolex will light up by itself

it is honoured to be photographed by such an expensive lens, it will light itself up, and then it will **** out a reflection too.......

L lens wont help him much, Coz only an original rolex will light up. Faux one wont.
But its nice having a small boy entertaining us on a weekend with funny question.

i'm loving it. Cant wait for TS next silly reply/thread. :)

Ok, I only have the kit lens now, which one cs member says it is not a sharp lens, what lens do you recommend me to buy now?
