Anyone can recommend any self contained apartments and accomodation in Apollo Bay, Port Campbell, Warnambool, Halls Gap and in Melbourne city? Hoping to get first hand information from those who have actually stay in such accom there.

Found quite a lot of such accomodation online but my frds told me sometimes what u see is not what u get. We have 7 adults and 1 child. Anyone tried Seafarers lodge in Apollo Bay before? Looks very attractive to me

Hi everyone, my name is Lis and I live in Melbourne.

I bet you are happy with todays weather it is blue sky and sunshine, cool but clear.

For the person who asked about SeaFarers.... YES!!!!!!! it is beautiful but you will need 2 x 2 bedroom apartments. Or try the Country Comfort Motel in Apollo Bay itself.

Whatever you do, stop at

1 Maits Rest Rainforest Walk
2 The SkyWalk at Lavers Hill and Melba Gully Glow Worm Walk if you are staying the night
there.

If you stay at Warnambool after the 12 Apostles, try to stay at Lady Bay Apartments.

Other places to visit

Echuca on the Murray River where the Paddle Steamers have rides.
Hanging Rock in the Macedon Ranges.
Sovereign Hill Gold Mining town in Ballaraat.
Southbank in the City itself and also Docklands and Williamstown are good.
Sundays are a Market tradition in Melbourne with Markets at lots of locations including Southbank, Victoria Market, South Melbourne Market and St Kilda

Melbourne is a wonderfully beautiful city. Have fun

Hi Lis...thanks for the feedback! Yes I emailed Seafarers and they can give us 2 lodge side by side and its about $400 AUD. Comes down to about $50 per person which is quite ok if the view is as good as shown on the website. I posted about this on Lonely Planet forum and someone mention its 3 KM away form the town center....will that be a problem?

As for the glowworm tour...yes we are doing it! Will reach Tullamarine airport at about 9+am....rent a car....drive down slowly through Geelong, Anglesea, Torquay, Lorne and hope to reach Apollo Bay b4 5pm when the sun sets. After which drive out for dinner and go for the glowworm tour. Is it necessary to bok in advance?

Regarding Maits Rest Rainforest Walk and The SkyWalk at Lavers Hill, are these to be done at night? Cant remember coming across them when I surfed the greatoceanroad website.

Do you have other recommendations for accom in Port Campbell, Halls Gap and Melbourne city? Not looking for backpackers style....more self contained apartments or lodges. Thanks. :D

Hi Again,

No 3 kms into Apollo Bay is not a problem. It is a reasonable road. The Glow worm tour is about
an hours drive from Apollo Bay. It is at Lavers Hill also.

The Sky walk and Maits rest are daytime things to do. I suggest you go there on the way to the apostles the next morning.

If you go to www.visitvictoria.com.au you will find accomodation at all sorts of places along with a lot more information.

Have a heap of fun, Oh and don't take anyone very old on the Glowworm tour it is very steep back to the car park. And be careful driving The Great Ocean Rd, look out for a Place called Koala's Nest on The Great Ocean Rd past Lorne. It is at Kennet River. Stop and see the Koala's there in the wild.
