What is AF-S Micro NIKKOR 60mm f/2.8G ED lens for?

I have friends using the D5000 so, i know the 50mm fits. Albeit yes, it has to use some effort to press it against the mount, and also twisting it in place. I don't know what the situation was like at the shop, but it sounds like you were babying your camera and stopped the assistant from exerting more force than for normal lenses.

I could be wrong though. But that's what it sounds like to me.

I don't think you should be accepting a job from the CC when your understanding of the basics are limited as such.
But since it's the CC's decision in hiring you, it is up to them. =s

I learned DSLR basics from a D5000, and it probably shouldn't have any trouble shooting up to iso 1600, lens regardless.

Also, shooting on the 60mm @ 2.8f to allow for a faster shutterspeed will also thin down the usable DOF quite a bit.
Will such a depth of field render enough things in focus for your intended usage?

Would advise investing in an external flash instead...

Haha I know. I mean abt the flash thing. I mean hey there was a time where we all knew as much as I did. And what better way to learn than to experience it yes?

Macro lenses are by nature very slow focusing lenses. Why? because it is supposed to take very close up pictures, so focus has to be accurate when focusing on a very near object, meaning it has a very wide range of focus distance to cover and do it on a longer turn to allow for finer tuning of exact focal point. How does that translate to shooting events? You may miss a lot of moments because AF is slow. and you will be very annoyed when the focus start from close focusing and move to infinity in a few seconds... by the time you acquire focus, the moment is gone.

And F2.8 is not really that fast. Any cheap Tamron 17-50 or Tamron 28-75 can do better than the 60/2.8 for events, giving you the same aperture. If you want faster, go for 35/1.8 or 50/1.8. If you want even more low light performance, go for the F1.4 lenses.

25 years ago, FOC for cc.. they only pay me film rolls, photo shoots developed at cost, but I am still happy helping them to shoot for their events.

Haha. They contacted me thru y kindergarten principal who is like a spokesperson for de cc. Then they engage me foc before then the principal ask them for $80 per day

I think there's a mode called "AUTO". just use that mode "AUTO' if you are still not really understand about DSLR yet instead of buying a lens that u might not be using much. And to be frank 60mm for coverage is way too far for you. Kits len should be good enough just up your ISO or using built in flash.
