What happened to price guides?

I had the same question some time ago but i dont post to ask why. The price guide had been the most useful to me when I began building up my gears years ago. It use to be members base updating, members who had a new lower price would copy n paste the whole list and update the new price with date n shop name. I did that for every Canon item that I bought. It works but was later change to a new method where member PM moderator and they will update it. Since then the list became non current anymore. Not sure why but I think members are lazy to do the PM (at least that's what happen to me...) I didn't ask why again because I had what I need now and didn't made any purchases lately so didn't check the list for a long time. Hope it get current back up for the 5D 3 and G1X ;)

All question are genuine and valid no matter how trivial they are, if it bothers you just don't reply or answer, someone else will do it. ( Remember the 'just google it' to every questions member?) No point begin sarcastic in the answer. What we need is just the answer and nothing else. Be nice always :)

Btw, peeps... the price guides on CS is just that - a G-U-I-D-E.... Everytime I wanted to buy an item, I'd check it first and then call up the shop AGAIN to check whether the price stayed the same, or gone up or down. Usually, I'd do this on the day I've decided to get that item. Sometimes, the prices do go up slightly, but then I'd know that's due to inflation or some other reasons (high in demand that drove it up). Whatever prices that are shown on CS is meant to be used as a GAUGE... so that in the event you overspent slightly, you know it's just 'slightly' and not being chopped like a carrot head (as some would phrase this). And at times, you'd get a lower price than CS guides (as price falls). If that is so, then you are lucky enough and hope you'd contribute to CS price guide as to where you "got lucky". In that case, CS price guides have served their purpose. If you chose not to share, that's okay. That's your prerogative anyway and I doubt no feathers will be harmed because of that. Most likely someone else will step forward in sharing, in due time. That's the way CS price guide works and always has been.

CS does not owe anyone in the maintainance and updating of those guides. Have a look at it, and then CHECK it yourself by calling up before you drop by the shops. If you don't, and ended up getting a higher price, that's nobody's fault but yourself.

CS is not ONLY ABOUT price guides like HK PRICES, please get this fact straight... :-)

If you are part of CS and wanna make CS a better place, then by all means - contributing to CS price guides is one of the ways of doing that.

Hope no feathers have been harmed by reading this post... :bsmilie:

If the item you want is new and not updated on the price guide, then it's simple. Call up and check around for pricings, then inform the mods so that they can update it. Let us not ask what CS can do for us, but what we can do for CS! :bsmilie: :bsmilie: (got copyright or not har?)

I seriously thought it is a no brainer that no one else (or Lazy) is updating the price list..

People are getting too pampered. The "old" guide ald got phone number why cant u call and ask? Those updating the list do out of goodwill and people are demanding why isnt it updated. Shame.

I used the guide and called the shops to check with the price. No point storming down to the shop and ended given a price that is different.
