What happened to price guides?

It's been a while since I've used ClubSnap forums last, since I left Singapore few years ago. Recently, I directed a friend to the forum; He was visiting Singapore, and wanted to know the equipment prices. I got to know from him that the price guides are not updated since 2011, which I checked and found out to be true (for Canon at least). The section is marked 'Old' in the forum.

What happened to Price Guides? I searched the forum and could not find anything relevant. Was it discontinued due to some legal issue or due to some better alternative? Is there any other place online with similar information for Canon equipment? Any information would be highly appreciated!

The list of popular shops is still there with the phone numbers. Your friend can just call them up and ask.

precisely... don't know what the big hoo-hah over un-updated price lists are. and TS, if your friend's peeved about the un-updated price lists, if he/she finds out the new prices he/she should alert the TS of that thread or the mods to update it.

understand that this is a free forum.. made by the admin and mods for us to share information. none of those who've contributed are paid. no one here owes the other a living.

I think you guys should chill out. All TS was asking was what had happened to the price guides. The first reply was sufficient "nobody's updating it" no need to get all angsty about mods and free sites lah... haiyo... relax la!

no one's getting angsty. it's an explanation about why the price guides aren't updated. well... TS asked for it

the price info does not drop from the sky, there are members who take their time to PM mods with the price info, there are mods who take their time to update it to the list,
if you find the list is useful, please contribute some of your efforts also,
if you find it is useless, never mind, just pick up the phone and call the stores to find out.


FYI, don't see the date of the last post and think nobody update the list, but see the posts when is the last edited.


BTW, I received an PM from a member, he said the prices of a particular lens seem not accurate, and no other info provided.
I appreciate he PM me highlighting the error, but it would be even better if he can provide me correct price for me to update, instead of letting me to find out myself.

i know it's not pleasant. it's not meant to be. it would be irritating if i always place a ":bsmilie:" at the end of my post. my post isn't designed to make it sound trivial. it's to tell someone what the problem is.

As I said in the previous post, I had already left Singapore and was not updated about what happens in CS. I didn't feel that I was "leeching" or anything similar just by looking at the price guide. I don't know how you came to the conclusion that my friend was "peeved" or that I thought someone owes me anything, but everyone has his/her own way of coming into conclusions.

What I asked was whether there is an alternative to those (rather useful) threads, or whether they HAD to be discontinued for some reason.
