The manufacturing process didnt change much, its only tat in the past Nikon did not inform their customers the lens contains the hazardous materials, and now China regulation requires them to inform the customers the lens contains the hazardous materials by putting up the logo. (I guess the same goes for Canon, Sony, Olympus, Pentax etc)

Only when they find a way to manufacture lens without using the hazardous materials then we will be completely safe. Anyway everyday we also breathe in the exhaust pipe fume from cars, eat contaminated seafood and insecticide vegetables, and we are still alive...

I think that the metal parts plus glass can be recycle for 10 times. Hmmm..... Still thinking what else...

Read the link article in post #11. ;p

The logo is mandatory by China Govt for any electronic consumer product sold in China if it is not meeting the RoHS controlled. [Regardless on EU 6 controlled element or China version of control elements].

For China market, if your product is China RoHS [more then EU RoHS], then you are to put a China RoHS logo on your product and packaging.

If product is not meeting China RoHS, then the product and its packaging must have a clear sign telling consumer it is not RoHS. The figure [10], means that the product can be put on shelf for sales for 10 years. A cleaver figure to use, as for such product is most likely long after EOL End Of Live by 5 years. So the distribution chain + manufacturer has no worry. As by 5 to 10years, the product shall have long been sold and off the shelf.

So, let close this thread.
