What do you guys think of third party battery?

The gap of original and third party battery is just too much!
I was quoted $138 and $28 respectively for BP-511 batt. I need to replace the battery due to the age of the cam which is 3 to 4 years old

The $138 question is, worth it to get the original?
Or I could save $110 without damaging my precious?

So far I have been ordering 3rd party batteries from eBay sources in Shenzhen/HK at a fraction of the original price. Have been using for years and no problems encountered.

Jon from reddotphoto is very friendly, he just helped me get a set from another store when he can probably earn more if I get it from him directly.

There are other online stores selling Photix as well as other 3P brands. Just look around.

Can any users confirm 5/7D unable to read battery capacity/bars displayed by the battery check
display for 3 party battery?

I will go for 3rd party brand definitely. Of course a renown/well-tested third party brand will definitely be better. The only downside is that it doesn't show power bars on the camera (for cameras like 7d and 5dmkii)

confirmed (but based on what I read ;p i bought 2 originals for backup). 5D MK II and 7D doesn't show battery bar with 3rd party batteries. but good ones could last as long as the originals. was reading reviews that some 3rd party ones made for 5D MkII doesn't fit as well in the 7D even though they're supposed to be the same (LP-E6).
