I was using a Ridata 512MB with the original Xdrive I, it won't work. Likewise with the Xdrive II, I tried it with the same type of card and it is a no go too. Seems to me that the manufacturer simply ignored the outcry made by many Xdrive I owners. This is a really sad example of ignorance ;(

No Xdrives for me ever again (unless they wake up their idea)

I am using two Ridata cards. One 512MB and a 256MB. Both of them work perfectly well on my XDrive II.

Just got to remember not to do somethings when transferring images.

so how come some pple can use some cannot?

Yeah really wierd I took a 256MB RIDATA and tried on my Xdrive II works fine.. Is it a CF problem? Or is it some hidden files in the CF that cannot be copied.? Or is there anyway I can low level format the CF?

As far as my case is concerned, the cards involved belong to the Ridata 512MB CF variant (3x pieces total), the 256MB card (1x piece) works fine. I discounted the possibilty of a faulty card because two close friends of mine faced the same identical problem, one with the Xdrive I and the other, both the Xdrive I and II. I tried formatting the cards with the PC, camera and even other brands of camera (Canon D60, S2 Pro) but to no avail, the device just refuse to recognise these cards.

A little OT, the Xdrive II is also noticably slower than other USB2 portable devices (like Nixvue, Tripper), wonder why it isn't up to speed like the others? It is a little faster than Xdrive I but it surely isn't anywhere near the performance I will expect from a USB2 device like those I mentioned above. I like the multi-card concept but it just ain't living up to my expectation :(
