what are the top 3 quirks about your D600?

i'm quite interested about the AF system problem vs d700. first time i'm hearing it - do most of u feel the same way?

Limitations avail in every body. Understand what it cannot achieve and use that to your benefit.

It won't benefit you if you choose to gripe over it 'just not being fast or accurate' enough. Maybe a shooting style change, or understanding the limitations of what it cannot do will help you use it better in ways it can help you.

So far have been playing with one, yes, it definitely CANNOT compare with a D4, but on it's own in it's D600 class, it's very sufficient in what it's set out to do. No point harping on it's limitations. Work around it. If you can't, then it's not for you.

I have my gripes on the D4, just that it's lesser, but there are still complains on it. I just choose to live with it and not think so much.

There isn't a perfect camera right now per se, even if there's a seemingly perfect one, we always wanted to see improvement and better features to it ;p

Assuming the D600 is perfect, people will gripe why no larger buffer, why no 51 pt AF, why no 9fps, etc...

I have the D600 and i am VERY happy with the purchase. i was aware of the features and the limitations when i bought it and no disappointments yet. But i do want to comment about all the posts

- many of the limitations should be known before you buy so don't complain. spend more $$ and get the D800 or save $$$ and cope
- i LIKE the AF. Let me explain: I come from ~10 yrs of Canon and then the Nikon D7000. Its true that the AF points are tight in the viewfinder, but a) compose and shift and b) I find the AF FASTER than any other camera i have had.

I am learning to use the Auto ISO feature. One night i took a pic of my kid in her room and the ISO was 2500. I can tell you that the result is great... You see, I would never shoot above 800 on the D7000 (i am fussy) and now i have SO much more room....

I suppose some people reading this will criticize me - maybe the 5DMkII or Mk III have equal or better ISO range, but.... Look at the price of the D600...

5D2 and 5D3 are a different class of cameras, D600's direct competitor is 6D though. Both are consumer FFs while 5D and D700/800 are professional cameras.

D600 price is chasing up (or down ) to D7000 very closely, it dropped almost 1/2k since its launch.

If you read the quote that I had in my original post, it was meant in context that it's NO POINT comparing the D600 to D700 just like D600 to D4.

Haha! I would be one of them. I do not use the vertical grip at all. Never liked it anyway. Too heavy, bulky, for one sole benefit - comfort when using the camera in portrait mode.

A little OT, I would only tolerate the perm grip on the D4 because the specs of D4 are something I would be happy with for carry the extra weight

OT, WHAT is the weight of MB-D14 D600 grip, it not listed on Nikon site. I'm consider getting the grip due to the Weight unbalance with 24-120f4 and Sb900 on my D600. I hv a big hand and the D600 is small to handle.
