Hi,

I just got my laptop loaded with Windows 7.

I would like to ask CSmembers what are the key software we should have in our laptop for photoediting, backup, work, etc

In my mind, this is what I intend to have but not sure what is the best
1. Antivirus - wonder what brand is reliable and wont crash PC
2. Microsoft Office 2007 (for work)
3. Currently I have a free photoshop lightroom and photoshop element
4. Any other softwares to recommend ?

avidemux - video filters, cut , convert, rotate, enhance contrast etc
any video converter - freeware version

After compiling the list,

these are what I have now

1. MS Office 2007
2. Skype
3. MSN Live
4. Easeus Partition (similar to partition magic) - maybe will get partition magic or do you have any freebie partition software to recommend ???
5. ACDSee Pro3 - good recommendation by CS member
6. Goodsync (and add in robocopy) -- good recommendation by CS member by must know a bit of scripting
7. All kind of browsers - IE, Chrome, Safari, Cometbird, Firefox
8. Acronis Tue Image
9. Visanita Duplicate ( to check for duplication)
10. bitdefender (Antivirus)
11. Photoshop CS2 (licence) - hope to upgrade to CS4 or CS5
12. Winrar and Winzip
13. Adobe 9 reader

14. Handbrake (to convert DVD to video)

What others softwares do you have..let keep sharing, I have learn a lot from members here what softwares they have installed and really enjoy to find out that there are so many freebies or good software we can all utilised...

Irfanview is a much much better alternative to ACDSee Pro3 IMO...

CCleaner is also a must for me.

I use foobar2k for my audio files as it's bit-perfect even if I use my onboard soundcard. It's also much lighter than WMP and Winamp.

For other media, MPC.

Works like a charm if you're using a ffdshow compatible player and not rubbish like WMP.
