Decided to take a break from this duty due to personal reason but will continue to support the event. Thanks Gary for doing this month shootout. After this month, Gary will nominate the next organizer for Dec.

This will keep the ideas fresh. Enjoy guys! :)

Thanks for the hard work Dave .. and thanks for taking over the hard work Gary ;)

Thanks Dave, you did a great job but does it mean that we will have even more beer stops during our outings?...

Thanks Dave! I will start counting how many beer sessions we are having in "Gary's dynasty".

Thank you Dave for the hardwork!

I'll think of somewhere to put up for you guys for this month's RF.SG outing. Would either be on the 20th or 27th Nov. Let me just crack my head a little, I'm trying to think of other locations other than the Little India/Chinatown/Orchard road stuff. I'm open to ideas as well. Please feel free to suggest!!!

I remember the last outing I organised, I received some feedback that it was too hardcore for some. We did Little India night shoot plus Senoko Fishery Port which extended till 3-4am? Abit too hardcore.. heehee...

Dave must have been losing hair every month on where to bring you guys for a shoot, that is why I'm taking over for this month, hopefully, I dont have to end up at Bejing 101, quite hard to figure out where to shoot especially when SIN is such a small place. Dec I would need a volunteer, I'll be in Hanoi to shoot & attend Srono's wedding, who is going ah? So far only myself & Chiif. I'll be there the earliest, 14th Dec.

Back to the topic, at the moment, I have some ideas in mind:
-Redhill old HDB area, very very old HDBs, interesting cranky people there. This HDBs are the kind where its houses on both sides of the corridor, which makes them rather dark in the day.
-Sentosa? --> I recee it earlier on this week, erm, a lot of walking, a lot of people but you really need a keen eye to spot things out of the norm to shoot there imho for the street genre...
-Katong/Joo Chiat, gotta plan the route for this one well, so many roads & alleys to walk around.
-My top pick would be to shoot any Mosque, I'm quite interested to check it out next weekend as it is Hari Raya Haji week, I believe there would be the slaughtering of lambs? But hari raya falls on wed, not sure about what will happen on the Sat. Any muslims here willing to shed some light on this?

No worries, this month I'm too broke to have much drinks. Bought M2/Light meter/air tickets to Hanoi/Iron Maiden concert tickets.... Kinda eating grass & air now la

can a non RF user join... I wanna get a DRF but like to know more about it before I plunge into it.

I can't imagine myself doing both monthly outings and photo submission...SUPER job Dave!!!!

Regarding the Hari Raya Haji, the following sat i doubt there would be anything different happening as the lambs would have been sacrificed already. So the best day is the day itself or maybe the sat before, because they might sacrifice some of the lambs early, but im not too sure about that!
But if we go this coming saturday we can most likely take pictures of them preparing for Hari Raya Haji, as well as the children playing/feeding the lambs (i used to be one of them :P).

Hi there

Please do feel free to join us. RF.SG was started out as a gathering for people with interest in RF be it film or digital.

let me stress that you dont have to own a RF to join, as long as you have interest, please do come down, the guys are a bunch of genuine RF fanatics that will be willing to let you molest their gear! Just be careful, when handling their cameras ;)

I believe we had 2 guys who joined us last month for our walk about. They did not have any RF cameras with them but they did get their hands on some of the guys cameras to have a first hand try on RF.

Oh yea, just an update, I've emailed the Sultan Mosque at Arab street about Hari Raya Haji. Requested if we could have permission to enter the mosque grounds to take a look at the sacrifice of lambs on Hari Raya Haji.

So tentively, we shall have RF.SG official outing on the 17th Nov 2011? I'm still awaiting the Sultan Mosque to respond before I provide the timing & dress code for this event. Will keep you guys updated as soon as I have news.

If not, we would stick to the official outing on 20th or 27th Nov with another venue.

*edit*
Guys please do feel free to voice your opinions, suggestions Q&A here, I'll try my best to answer them asap.

Hi bro, thanks for your feedback.

I've emailed the Sultan Mosque requesting for permission if we are able to enter as a group & requested if they could give us just a short tour & also explain the significance of the sacrificing the lambs.

I for one has never been into a mosque, it would be nice to actually get in to take a look.

I believe this would be a good experience for all the members who attend & to understand our fellow muslims better as well. Hopefully they can reply soon.

haha,

no problem, they welcome us for sure.

heehee! Yep, most likely they will. I did put to them its an "educational" trip to help us understand our muslim Singaporeans better, so kinda like community building & racial harmony, I'm sure we are most welcome.

Just wanna get some proper green light from the mosque as we are entering under the name of RF.SG, wouldnt wanna give our club a bad name should there be "complications" when we enter as a group without green light.

Of course, if its an individual trip, I'll just walk in straight myself without sending in a request ;)

Thanks bro. I am glad to help. Can't believe I've been doing this since the beginning of RF.SG. All these activities and minis becos' I've kept my promise to the Chairman to keep it going. Anyway, now that both minis and outings have pretty much stabilised with regular participation. It's time I step down and let others carry the torch going forward. U guys have fun and I am sure it will continue to evolve into something more!!!
