Wedding video all looking same same...

Attended 8 weddings in the last 6 months and found that all the wedding videos look so similar to one another. Beside all the similar a la StillMotion inspired shots, almost all use the same overdone time shift editing, same slider move, same tempo, same rhythm and so on... They are looking like coming from one 'creative' house or 'factory.. Is this the trend or are they using a master template?

Anyway you can probably use one wedding video as a master template and just re-insert shots from the next wedding, especially if you are using the same music track. A bit of exaggeration here of course...

Problem is most of the weddings are standard. Were the weddings u attended of a big difference in the activities? There are companies that work on a template but if they handling very high volume of work so I guess the approach. There are some who do try to innovate different edits all the time but its not easy given the similarity of the weddings. The tools of the trade are the same and under time pressure, one cannot spend much time to set up for innovative shots unless there is more space or more manpower. Also, we cant afford to direct the weddings a lot unless its a destination wedding and there is pre wed shots the day before etc.

Actually what we have been going thru is a cycle. Couple of years back all looked similar with single cam and no tools. Then came SD to HD transision and we saw slight differences with timelapse included (due to cam capability). Next came Camcorder to DSLR which saw big change in quality. Then came the tools and now we have stabilized again. Prob the next big thing is the heli cams (until the authorities kills it) I guess. The power of internet has sort of levelled the market. In certain countries i have seen total rip offs of famous wed videos... same song, same location, just different people!
