Hi,

For all who are interested to try their hand at actual day wedding photography, here's your chance to follow me on up to 7 assignments in the month of May as a backup photographer.

The dates are: 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 20th, 22nd, 25th.

These are all non-paid shoots so try to think of it as a learning opportunity, your photos taken will be owned by you so you may use them to build up your portfolio if you wish, although it would be great if you could give the couple a CD of your best photos.

Transportation will be paid for and being weddings, there will definately be meals provided.

Priority will be given to tertiary or JC students. Being young myself, I know how hard it is for young people to break into this industry. Experience is not necessary, but would be great if you could PM me a portfolio URL of some of your photos (people related preferred).

For those who wish to find out more about my photography, do point your browsers to www.jonkeng.com

Cheers!
Jon

Great opp for young photogs... Any chance an old man like me can take part? Just wanted to learn...

have to go through all 7 or can go for those dates we are available?

:embrass:

Hi thoa_rs,

I am very interested to learn. I am a poly student and had always been very interested in photography, though i take nature most of the time because havent have many chances to take people, though i have a few.
Will it be ok if i don't own a DSLR? I recently saved enough money to get a Panasonic FZ 20 and accessories like filters and external flash....good enough equipment to join you? :embrass:

dun think u need dslr.. fz20 is capable enough for most situation i think.

Just a few updates, thanks for the response. Would be great if interested parties who PM or email me could include the following to make the selection process easier:
-name & age
-why you are interested in wedding photography

You do not have to available on all dates.

Equipment is not really important, just the right attitude.

Cheers!

Bump for the night crowd. :)

upz for you dude! nice shots on your site!

Thanks for the great response everyone! Am in the process of sorting out the applications, apologies for not being able to reply to all PMs and emails. Meanwhile, the opportunities are still open so keep the PM coming. Cheers.

er... update? :) where can we find the updates

Hi guys, am in the process of shortlisting the candidates, will be meeting up with a lot of you guys over the next few days so stay tuned for udpates. :)

Can I come along I'm a videographer.

i applied for this position and was very fortunate to be given the chance to shoot not 1 but 2 weddings with thoa_rs.

true, he charged the couples according to his usual charges. he did not give me a single cent for food, travel etc, not to mention pictures.

but here's what he did :
1. taught me the importance of composition for wedding photos
2. usage of exposure, overexposure
3. points to take note of when shooting weddings
4. pointed out the reality of wedding photography. great wedding photos are not those with perfect exposure, skin tones etc. but a whole lot more
5. did not use a single picture of mine
6. gave me the freedom to shoot in whatever way i want
7. gave me pointers about my shot

i definitely did not feel under cut because as a newbie with NO portfolio and little understandings about weddings or my equipment, i was given a chance to shoot a real wedding. how often do u get these chances. u could pay for courses, but for me, i am not that rich, yet i am learning on the job for free. seriously, i wouldnt complain.

thoa_rs has been great fun to work with, though i probably didnt fit what he was looking for. 2 days with him has given me a whole lot to think about and a whole new perspective to weddings.
