well, "pros" always said that equipment doesn't mean anything, but why I keep seeing ppl commenting like 'someone who use D70 and act like a pro'.. well, strange singaporean, do i need to get some equipment to be pro?

i guess the horror story of wedding photography is the photographer lost all photos taken.

anyway just not have any misunderstanding, heres what I posted earlier. It nothing to do with the equipment but how that person carried himself. Hence the other forumers comment.

One of the couples relative claimed to be a pro shooting with d70 and kit lens arranged the whole tea ceremony, asking the couples to pause and pose and setting layout as if he was the main photog. Calling me "a monkey" moving around shooting different angles infront of all the relatives during the ceremony. tahan... Peoples big day afterall, gave him benifit of doubt.
Found out later he was shooting in fully auto mode the green box setting!!!
lagi hot sheesh so much for pro....

So bridesmaid A was witnessed it so she jumped up and down to look for photographer? then your photographer got a photo that groom doing it with bridesmaid B?what is 'it'? screwing? then he came back with a picture? do u mean a digital camera 15 years ago?
then u mean the bride found out and call it off? but somehow people still celebrate?..really confusing story..
don't need digital camera everyone also know what's is happening lar.

lol :bsmilie:

Well, some ppl like to differentiate between ppl who are serious abt photography and those causal photographers by the equipment they using.

Being labelled as pro means u knows alot about photography and very good at it and ppl like being regarded as a pro ;) it feels good.

U can't escape from the fact that ppl judge u by the equipment u using. The 1st impression when u see a person using a 1Ds MII 'L' lens is that he must be a professional.

But then, he may be a rich moron using a birdie 600mm L lens to take human portraits or landscape...

Nah it ok just dont want Lens to misunderstand you. No probs.. The untimate auto mode on the camera, just press button only. In P mode you can at least still control some things..

Thanks for the clarification. Sorrie..

I shouldn't comment too much, i just a newbie wif a PnS

A professional is able to shoot with any cameras (but most of them will prefer using top of the range cameras for many reasons), and will not look down any other photographers with a more consumer level cameras. Cos we believe that in the end of the day, who can deliver results is the King.

and I notice some people are very upset to see a professional using a lower grade camera compare to what their are holding in their hands, so many issues arises.

Most of the pros are not really concern about this, to deliver results and get paid are far more important than boasting self ego.

Must be real "pro"...
Seriously speaking: (kinda embarassing to say so)
From my prosumer days to the DSLR, I only know to how use Tv, Av and M...
all the rest of the icons I dunno how to use or what's the difference between them....
I know P is like Auto... but can set ISO and WB... but like nothing much diff leh.
A-dep is also a function that confuse me.... didn't use it from the very beginning...

Even on my Ixus, I also only use M mode and Movie mode.... coz the Auto is so noisy.

Bridesmaid B saw groom screwing bridesmaid A. Got picture. Developed at 1 hour lab. Bride walk out of wedding. All hell broke loose. All the guests were arriving, and wedding got called off.

What to do? The hotel is not going to refund anything, everyone needs to eat, so we all had a feast and got drunk. Very little pictures were taken that day after the infamous picture.

Afterwards, the father of the bride who was supposed to pay for the whole thing, refuse payment. Well, we threaten to take him to court, and I believed the groom who "screw" up paid the bill instead.

All the photographers and the videographers got paid in full, only they did not make anything above that from reprints. In the US, reprints is where teh money is being made.

Luckily get to see part2 of the story..and the completeness makes me feel so sorry for the bride..sad!

Well, my friend, the wedding planner, and the bride got real drunk that night. They had been working together for almost a year planning the wedding. I have never seen alcohol being consumed at that rate at any wedding party. Opps, not wedding party, it was only a party.

:o Shouldnt it be the groom's side paying the bill in the 1st place ?

Got head no tail..dun even deserve to be a story..
The tail is self-concluding.

U dun have to spell everything out and write everything on the wall right? Use a little quirky sense of humour and u'll be able to get it! ;)

If you are European or American, traditionally, bride's side pays.
That's odd, traditionally groom pays. My friends must have gotten the raw end of the deal then. Hey, who cares as long as they have a happy marriage right?

4. While I was the official photographer for a good friend's wedding there were at least 20 relatives who brought their own cameras, using equipment ranging from P&S all the way to F5 with huge Metz flash head. Everyone fought for the best spots during key events like paparazi and I had to work extra hard to try to get the shot I want. That was also the biggest banquet I have ever seen....56 tables.

Wow.... Heng arh not me..... I had F5 and Metz 60CT4 before but not at the same time.:bsmilie:

That was one I witness the mum wanted to outshine the bride wedding moments.

Took up almost 3/4 of the make up artist's time to do her "old face" up.

Constantly wanted to be the centre of the attraction in the pic.

Directing everything for the photographer and best of all the bride had to listen to her.

Ended up, bride and mum had the biggest fight of the century.... so funny... in the end the groom and the father had to come and make peace for that day.

Why huh? Why screw up your little princess biggest moment of her life?
