Wedding Photographer's assistance Dec 15th. Taking grp shots during reception/banquet

Hi all photographers,

I'm looking for photographer's assistant in covering wedding day reception and banquet on 15th Dec 2013, roughly 6pm to 11pm. You job scope is very simple, all you need is to cover group shots and table shots. You will need to bring your own Camera + Wide angle zoom lens + Flash. Post processing of images needed are just basic white balance, contrast and exposure. Final images needed will be high res JPEG on CD or DVD media. Please read the following basic requirements. As not many might want to agree with some of my terms, especially paying the security deposit upfront. It is my safe measure for "no-show" or tardiness. Which of course did happened before I implemented this requirement. I do hope you will understand. Please do let me know if you agree or disagree with my terms.

I will require a deposit of S$100.00 upfront from you.

As long as the subjects in the pictures are well lit, well focused and captured in the correct white balance, else no additional or special editing is required.



Your scope of work is very simple, just need to cover the group shots of guest and family during the drinks reception(with or without couple), the typical group table shots, the end of the wedding banquet farewell shots with the guests.

So I expect you to have a wide angle lens and flash head, backup equipments in case your primary equipment should failed you , and be able to command and direct the subjects for the required shots.

1) You can offer any pictures, that you have taken, to the couple.

2) You have to process and deliver the required shots in high-res jpeg.

3) Shots requirements only need to be in right exposure, right focus, correct white balance and lastly subjects need to be posed correctly for the required shots.



Enjoy yourself and you are free to shoot the wedding banquet as long as you fulfill the following conditions during the wedding banquet:

A) Cover your scope of work responsibly.

B) Do not obstruct or distract the main photographer, who is myself.

C) Remember to prioritise your main objectives of your work.

At the end of the day, you are allowed to keep the pictures that you have taken

And most importantly my offer for your service. I will only be able to offer you S$120.00 for the night (Start of Reception to the end of wedding banquet)

If unfortunately any mishaps and you are unable to deliver the images later, your deposit will be forfeited and you will have to answer directly to the client.

If assistance to help your main Photographer S$120 is fine.

But

If 2nd Photographer with Own Camera + Wide angle zoom lens + Flash + Post processing of images Final images JPEG on CD or DVD media and deposit of S$100.00 upfront..?

Please think your self, if you are the 2nd Photographer will you do this for S$120..?

Hi redshutter, did you pay deposite to your client or the other way round?
Pay deposite to your 2nd shooter and make him sign some papers if you are scared, and answer to your client if the shooter does not turn up yourself if you are responsible.

the client hired YOU! not your 2nd shooter! you're paying your 2nd shooter $120 and you are getting a deposit from him???

did you give a deposit to your client???

for $120 the 2nd shooter becomes responsible?? then he may as well take over the project, get paid better and be responsible!

I think I can imagine a situation or scenario he will say.
*Because the client is not happy with the picture and your deposit will be eaten and you'll not get your pay*
Instead of you learn $120, you lost $100 and earn nothing!
He can cheat your money and waste your time and effort.

No offend.
If you couldn't trust your 2nd Photographer by delivering good photograph and wants him/her. You can always choose to shoot it yourself and you can make sure you're delivering good photograph.
Instead of taking other people's money and you can make a scam out of it.

you ask for deposit from your hired staff? Who's supposing to be paying who?
you need the deposit because you don't trust your 2nd photographer?
but yet you trust him/her to shoot under your studio for your client?

BTW you have a website with some good portfolio shots, don't you have any photographer friends to be your 2nd photographer? think you'll have better luck with them.

There is always a risk of no-show if a person choose to engage a free-lancer, who is not borne by any contract, but probably at a better price. Cheap, reliable, and has to account to client. I think we can't have everything in the world.

There is a difference between responsibility and accountable. The 2nd photographer is responsible for any failure during the shoot but as a 1st photographer, he has to be accountable for what went wrong as the client signed contract with him. From the way i see it, free-lancer should be freed from any agreement between the client and himself.

And the saddest thing? People will queue up for this assignment despite the terms. :cry:
