wedding lomographer

hello!

I admit, this is a bit of a strange request. but here's the thing. I'm a huge lomo fan. I love shooting from the hip and the crazy colors that expired slide films give you. and I would love for my wedding solemnization day to be shot a lom-style as well.

disclaimer: I'm on a *very* tight budget. I'm currently a student and am doing some freelance TV screenwriting on the side so I don't have a lot to work with. every cent counts!.

so really, I'm looking a lomo enthusiast who would like to shoot a wedding to add to his/her portfolio. I'll gladly pay for the scans and offer food (we're having a really yummy dessert reception) but that's about it. but you'll be ensured of a nice time and good company! :)

get back to me if any of this tickles your fancy. I'd love to meet!

thanks!

Besides the scan, i tink u need to pay for the film as well...slides are not cheap...:)

Sounds interesting... I would like to give it a try with my toys... :)

Again, why must the photographer be at the short end of the stick? Is ART that cheap?:dunno:

i have no respect for people whom has no respect for others.

oh dear. I never meant to suggest that art is cheap. I'm a filmmaker/writer myself. it's just that I am cheap!

but seriously. you see, I dabble in lomography and have a couple of cameras. I've always wanted to post a request here to squeeze in on a photoshoot and try out my cameras at a wedding. I never got around to it and suddenly, I found myself getting married! and I couldn't help wondering if some other budding lomographer out there would be willing to shoot a wedding - just for kicks, as an experiment of sorts. like I wanted to.

he gets to try something new and add to his portfolio and in return, he gets food and great company and my everlasting gratitude. and if the pictures turn out great, heck I'll gladly pay for them! :)

anyway, I didn't mean to step on any toes and belittle anyone's talent. if you're a seasoned lomographer, please go ahead and ignore my post but if you want to try something new and are itching for an opportunity, do get in touch! you can even borrow my cameras if you like. I've got a very moody LCA (the shutter can't make up its mind about when to work), a Vivitar and a Holga.

I don't mind trying! I have a vivitar and Holga 135. I can even try for you Instax 200 wide.

hey there, I love your stuff! especially the one of the tree taken with the Vivitar! :)

and kudos to you for being on tumblr! I'm at http://overherd.net
anyway, I'll pm you? thank you!

Hi mordecai,

While I really like your idea for Lomo-style wedding pictures, I reckon you should consider getting proper wedding photographs man. We only get married once (well, most of us ;) ) and would you not appreciate high-quality photographs instead of just Lomos to commemorate such a grand event?

(Unless you already have that and want to supplement the photos with Lomos :) then please forget what I said)

hey bigcahuna,

yeah, I'm getting lomo shots to compliment the photos :) even if I wanted to, my fiancee will kill me if I don't arrange for a 'proper' wedding photographer!

Value of an art-form is determined by oneself...

Why are you talking about respect all of the sudden? :dunno:

TS, i think this is a great idea although i am not a connoisseur of lomography.

I believe Belle&Sebastain is referring to the renumeration offered by TS

you mean Remuneration? hmm, TS is being good to offer something to get something.
wouldn people will think of him being cheapsake in the first place if he dont offer?
so now he offer and he is counted as no respecting and stuff. O_O Oh gosh..

I will fully support you mordecai, keep in touch! even if you dont need me to shoot/anything else, i am more than willing to shoot, to get more experience :D
i will be glad if you give me the chance ahaha

till then!~

To the TS, as a someone into Lomography as well, I advice you to use Lomography as a something a "3rd priority".
Why? The colour is unpredictable. Always play safe for weddings shots.

Have a photographer to take actual shots as 1st priority, a friend or relative to be a spare photographer for different angles and lastly a lomographer for wild shots.

This is my point of view lah.. But the final decision is still yours. ;)

which means, he is going to have a proper and normal wedding photog shoot,
BUT
he would like to have a lomo version for his wedding solemnization day too.
thank you. :)

I think it is a pretty good idea and a great opportunity to add to your portfolio.
If you are "money over passion", i don't think you are the person, mordecai need.
Anyway, mordecai, you should try posting one thread over at lomotion.sg.:)

not everything is abt money..money n money...not necessary money can get u the best of the best and the "bestest".....

money doesnt value a person's worth either....who dare to raise his hands and say i am well worth what i am paid for!

I doubt even joe mcnally says that..unless u r much better than him...if not u r just over rated

Congrats to TS..and i think its a really great experience and an offer that you offer some one to join in the joyous event...not everyone gets such chance. :)

hi all,

it's indeed an uncommon sight these days to see film being used at weddings (either for fun or professionally). digital is just so precise and safe for such an important event.

I've been checking out wedding photos on flickr and came across these two examples/photographers, and i hope that what they've done can provide some insights to both the photographer and the TS as to what can be done with film at the wedding.
