Wedding Gown Series ft Kelly & Florence

There are more issues in organising a well organised organised shoot than simply the best time to shoot the best type of model/subject. There are numerous give and takes.

what if you plan at 12pm-2pm when the sun is most glaring? how to give and take? :bsmilie:

True 12-2pm (or noon) might not be the best time of the day to shoot.. But issit this a Group Shoot? (correct me if m wrong, I had never been to group shoots before anyway) but I would assume alot of things are outta control, eg timings or poses??

Heck, even in a Paid shoot (photographer get paid I meant), I dont get to choose the timings. Sure I can advice that its not the ideal timings.. but due to many many reasons (like makeupArtist cant make it?!), this kidda timing would happen.

Would you turn down a Paid shoot cause its not-the-ideal timing?

My advice to the "give and take" would be either to shift indoor, shoot under shady places (trees?) or use a sunlight diffuser and reflectors.

People,...*clap clap clap*...., people!!!!

please do not twist the question here.

my question was (simulated), like what sinned79 was asking, if the shoot was planned at
12-2pm, what would you do?

i know some of you have gave some suggestions, like:

1. wait for opportunities,
2. move indoors,
3. change the schedule,
4. use shades/diffussers/reflectors, etc....

thanks for your contributions.

simply skip the shoot, there are always more opportunities ahead
but while u are already in it, can always look for a shady area... etc
its not the best, but much better than having a wedding gown series with gown completely blownout

Basically no sane organiser would deliberately organise a 12 - 2 pm outdoor organise photoshoot unless it's possibly;

1. A result of unexpected events, like model issues, so delay to very late.
2. Out of pure convenience, maybe he/she already has a shoot from 9 to 11.
3. There is sufficient shade/reduction from sun in the specific location.

Trust me, most photographers in CS are knowleadgable enough to not a attend a shoot that's between 11 am to 4 pm. So your queries above are redundant. I hope i did not offend anyone. I'd be surprised why TS would not question the organiser if he actually scheduled a 12 - 2 pm shoot for him. That should be the 1st mode of operation.

So i assume you are saying,
that if you were the photog,
with the previously mentioned situation happened during your shoot,
you will give up and cancel the shoot?:dunno:
like I said, in such a hopeless situation, if you still think that you need to shoot, then there is nothing much you can do with such "sub-standard" results.:dunno:
Everyone has different level of acceptance.

If my memory serve me well.. you did went for an organised shoot (also bridal theme) by another CS organiser in August'10 right?

http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=745443

yes i did, that was once and only. cos the theme is bridal. and not those usual XMM trying to act cute in bridal wears. So it enticed me to go cos i want to go into pre-wedding and events photography. :)

here's what i shoot:
http://www.aboutlove.sg/becky-lee.htm

so far i find those bridal themes organise by CS organiser are all those XMMs (mostly acting cute) - no offense, so i dun bother to sign up and go shoot.

i am not the type who will join such shoots every week (what bf shirt theme lah, clubbing theme lah, sexy theme lah blah blah blah).

i am only keen in bridal theme with suitable models (none XMM). that will only entice me to join. else you wun see me in such shoots.

Hahahaha...

I can't stop laughing when I read your post. Impressed that you can comment confidently about CS organised shoots when you've only joined 1 shoot.

"so far i find those bridal themes organise by CS organiser are all those XMMs (mostly acting cute)"

"cos the theme is bridal. and not those usual XMM trying to act cute in bridal wears"

What you say is true to the point that some (percentage/proportion not within the picture) do indeed feature XMMs (whether cute or not) in cutesy poses that might cause discomfort to some photographers.

But... are you suggesting that CS shoots are mainly "the usual XMMs" trying to act cute? Disclaimer: This is not a threat, but a query that hopefully you will reclarify as i'm certain some CS-ers might be offended by your post.

At the same time to all who might be curious; I'm not defending the particular organiser of the shoot as featured in the pictures by TS. There is no reason for me to defend him.

go on laughing.

i wun reclarify. so far those bridal themes i seen mostly are act cute types just dat ppl may not post out only. simple as that.

i can imagine one day cassey (model) wear a bridal gown punching herself silly. :bsmilie:

second photo - http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6508585&postcount=2 (one example)

i am lazy to dig out more those act cute poses in bridal wear.

non bridal, third photo - http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6055911&postcount=1

Again, lazy to dig those act cute poses in non bridal.

anyway, i will only say so far what i seen is bridal fashion but dun really go close to bridal shots.

so ask me spent money to go shoot these XMMs? i rather spend the money on quality models who wun act cute in my photos.

Bro, is there a need for an example of a specific model like Cassey? Is this not a personal attack? Gosh bro, pls be civil.

My comments on this thread end here... I hope you understand my point of view. :(

I want to prove my point that act cute XMM do exists in organised CS shoots by CS organisers since you suggest that i reclarify. I am quoting an example.

I nothing against the model nor personal attack against her. cos i dun shoot nor even know the model so there is no reasons for me to. But the photos i seen is enough to prove my point earlier.

i am only keen in bridal theme with suitable models (none XMM).

OT: Actually there is a large number of photographers in CS that does wedding photography for a living.

You can ask Mervin (Surrephoto) how many weddings he did this year? I doubt he can give you an exact number (@Mervin: Am I right bro?).

If you are interested in going "full-time" in this field, my advise is that you don't be so choosy of your client. There is reasons why client would be willing to pay top dollars for the photography service while some new photographers do "free wedding services", most importantly we can deliver our shots despite when unforeseen situation occurred. :)

thanks for your advise.

ermm when u say wedding photography, are u referring to those actual day + pre wedding or bridal fashion shots? If bridal fashion shots, you had to agree, the model must look good and present herself well in a bridal wear not those act cute poses, that is an insult to the theme i find, cos it is meant to look serious and elegant, not cute if bridal theme that is to be. But if it is those other fashion shoot themes, i dun care cos i am not interested to go into such fashion shoots, so act cute all they want.

ohh i am definitely not choosy over my clients (paying), whichever clients come i will seize opportunity to take. i am only choosy over those photoshoots that i do for my own portfolio (i am sure everyone wants their portfolio to look nice), and i dun think shooting act cute xmms will look good on my portfolio, don't you agree?

anyway now i am only doing part time, can't afford to leave my full time job yet to go full time but if there is an opportunity next time in future when i am ready, i will most probably.

so i hope u see my point now, its basically very simple nothing malicious (personal attacks, etc).

I think it would be more appropriate to shift the discussion to kopitiam and not OT too much here. ;)
