Weather sealed means protection against wet weather as well? If yes, then does weather sealed = water resistance? If yes, can spores still enter the lens?
Also if weather sealed is protection against dust and dirt, then can spores still enter the lens?
If weather sealed != water resistance and protection against dust and dirt, then what is weather sealed for?

These are marketing terms, unless they are defined similar to the IP rating as used e.g. for electrical equipment. But no consumer would buy a camera designed for IP55 - simply because it's neither attractive nor cheap. If you need proper protection get the underwater cases. They offer a level of protection where no little rubber seal of a lens mount can compete. Combine it with some camera armour and you are good to go for the next civil war.

Let's a put it this way. I would still put my weather sealed lenses inside a working dry cabinet.

If you believe that weather sealing means no chance of fungus growth, leave it anywhere you wish.

It is fairly obvious to me that weather sealed does not mean complete protection against fungus growth, but to each his own.

Then fungus can still grow on the outside of the lens

Actually, I was curious because apparently with coupled with the right filters/body, the lens is basically dust and water resistant. Thus, I was thinking that since moisture shouldn't go in, basically it should also mean that fungus wouldn't go in the inside. If fungus does grow, it should only be on the outside. But hey, i also kiasu and kiasi having spent so much on a len, I wouldn't take the chance. Just curious.

Dust and water resistant. Not dust and water proof. Also no mention about fungus proof or fungus resistance. But don't take my word for it. Why not just leave it outside and find out?

I think adding a filter simply adds more layer of protections, at least to the front element.. (like adding more walls to a fortress / castle?)

And, even if at one point it's 100% sealed, along the way rubber components will usually give way because of wear & tear, UV exposure, etc.

Juz put it this way. I've seen a very new 24-70mm L own by an Ang moh in my technician place with very bad fungus infestation juz because he leave his lens on his table for a month without even using it

Please read carefully. The terms are marketing because they are not clearly defined. If Canon puts O-rings in (and other measures) then they do something to support the claims.
You can put your lens into an airtight bag for maximum protection - but the air inside the lens (and some organic residue) will be enough to kick start fungus growth.
So whatever the claim is, put your gear into dry cabinet if not used and done. No need for endless discussion whether or not an L lens will grow fungus or not. Fungus is colorblind.

Your camera and lens manual have storage conditions defined. Equal or below 50% is fine. The drying of seals (and lubricates) is myth busted long ago.
