I recently bought a Bessa RF. I have done the first roll of film and I found many shots out of focus.:embrass: As I was taking them while wearing my eye glasses, can that be the cause of the problem? Will wearing contact lenses be better? Thanks for your feedback.

I use an R3A which is a 1:1 viewfinder, and I have problems when using the 40mm framelines. Not because I can't focus, it's because I can't see the frame lines unless I take off my glasses.

I don't think your glasses will affect your focusing though. Maybe it's your technique? Also, how out of focus, if it's just a tiny bit then that's just the problem with shooting rangefinders. Maybe you would like to post a sample?

Think it could be either your RF is out of alignment or you did the focusing wrongly.

I wear glasses as well, using the R3A, honestly, like enivre, I cant see the damn framelines for 40mm  But it doesnt bother me that much. Use 50mm theses days, can see the frame lines better.

What I do sometimes is I focus first, then shift my glasses to the top of my head and then do the composition for the 40, but it's a real pain lah... Just got used to it that's all.

Thanks for all your kind feedback. I am using a R3M w/Nokton 50mm F/1.5. It is my first RF camera. I am getting about 30% of the shots out of focus... I must admit that I try some of the shots at f/1.5! Maybe I should try out with another roll again and see if it gets better.

Cannot la, I without glasses kwa bo lei.....

same here. kwa bo.. and with the metal eyepieces on some cameras, tend to get my glasses scratched by peering too close to see the framelines. *ouch*

If your RF is without rubber protective outer ring on the viewfinder (Leica M5 and earlier), you can get a stick-on adhesive protective pad (not sure if he has for other non-Leica cut out) put on from Mr. Tay of DE Camera Consultant for couple of bucks only.

I used to focus only on my right eye. I suffer both short and long sighted wearing a bi-focal glass. Currently, I prefer to focus with my left eye with both eye open where right eye blocked with the camera body. I feel this is more relax and doesn't strain my eye opening and closing, especially for long shoot.

Hope that helps. Cheers :)

My diopter actually has a rubber but taking in & out of the bag caused some wear & tear, think the diopter rubber "ka lao" somewhere last weekend when I was shooting

AH.. i had 2 protectors.. both dropped out without me knowing it... :(

Only other choice is to use the R2A instead I think...
