wow.. very nice price... to the said people: help me get one too =P any one bought this lens new in Singapore though? its a nice lens and i would love to get the box and original documents...

is the price dropped because of the rumours of the new AF-S 50mm f1.2G?

Oops! you are right it is 1.2 x
Received it this morning. Can focus better and getting sharper shots using the 24f2 ais wide open!

The DK-17M magnification is 1.2x. Used to have it on my D2Hs and used it on the F5 and F3HP. It does help with manual focusing but did not life it that much because I found it a bit hard to see the info in the viewfinder.

If buy new in SG, should cost around high 700s. I know someone who did it a couple months back.

Adding to poison factor a little bit more.

AIS 105 f1.8

Not the best of pictures taken. But good enough to show sharpness and the pleasant out of focus background

Taken with the 24mm f2 ais
D700, 1/640 @ f2, iso 400, hand-held
Am still playing with my 24mm f2. So bear with the boring pictures i'm posting for now ;)

Taken with the 35mm f2 nikkor-O ai'd.
D700, 1/800 @ f2, iso 200, hand-held
My favorite lens. Mechanical goodness....short focus throw...thus easy to focus...sharp wide open..pleasing bokeh.

cool bokeh... i din shoot it on fullframe.. looks like its performs very differently

Anyone wants to post their Carl Zeiss lens pictures here? Would be nice to compare the IQ between AIS and Carl Zeiss.

Thanks for sharing your pictures and keeping this thread up :)
Wow the bokeh looks as if a soft-focus filter was used

No problem! ;) The background was intentionally blurred due to distracting elements. ;p

Do you mean you photoshop to make it blur? Not done by the lens itself?

Yeah. Though the shot was taken by the lens, I had to blur the background a little in Photoshop as it was a bit too distracting. Sorry about that yeah, I know by doing so it doesn't showcase the true performance of the lens.
