Wat U dont like about Lx5..

as of this moment, min aperture only f/8 & slowest shutter speed only 8sec...

Hi All,

Im a newbie.

Must the len always "comes out" when ever myself/wife wanna view the photos that are taken?

Cant we just view the photos and yet the len does not "come out"?

Tks n regards,

Another thing I don't like about my LX5 which I hope is also rectified in a future firmware update like it was with the LX3. The LX3, like the LX5, also suffered from poor indoor AWB... especially under fluorescent light. I am pretty confident that Panasonic engineers will tweak the AWB algorithms on the LX5 and provide us a firmware upgrade in the near future... most probably before the end of 2010... or else in early 2011.

Sorry for bumping this post but I am pretty disappointed with the indoor photo as well. Apparently I took a photo indoor with a glass door just behind.. and was in the intelligence auto mode. Somehow or rather the colours were very dull and WHITE/bright. I had a s95 and ex1 at the scene and tested with both the other cameras. The colours were splendid. Is this what Panasonic made it in the camera or isit just some setting problems? I feel emo when I see their camera perform better :(

Tks n regards,

Hi mokermania, you can hold onto the play button then switch on the camera, that will allow you to view photos without the lens coming out.

at least on the lx3, they have it in a switch button but strangely on the lx5, it became a push button.

You can setup the play mode when camera turns ON, so that whenever you turn ON the cam it starts in play mode.

last but not least, Happy new yr to u guys n Great Health always!

I tried to "customize" C2-1 to something else, but I can't do it. I wanted to change it, for example to B&W mode, but there is no way for me to do it and SAVE it. I read the manual (downloaded over 100 pages), but doesn't seem to work. I want to customize all the 4 of them: C1, C2-1, C2-2 and C2-3; but can't. Anyone can help? Thanks

there's no marine case.... :(

... its 2 competitor canon s95 and olympus xz-1 has marine case.

of course 3rd party solution available... but is sooooo pricey. cost more than the camera :(

cannot rotate picture when viewing on playback.

I don't know why panorama cannot combine(stitch) picture together de. it separates one leh..

the shop owner told me he prefers S95 when it comes to colors and ease of use.

1. Battery life is not good. Twice, I didn't bring my charger and spare battery, and I was caught with a camera that is "dead". On top of it, I switched it on, and the lens came out but could not go back in. I have to search for a camera shop, borrowed the battery, before the lens retraced back to original position. It is embarrassing. Moral of story - "don't leave home without spare and charger!" O, don't forget the cable too. 2. Until now, I still can't figure out how to customize the C1 and C2. I don't seem to have the option to change. I tried many times, read the manual.... but no luck. 3. Flash - it is not so easy as I thought. Popping up the flash doesn't mean automatically, it will fire. It is not easy to find the switch to change from no-flash to flash.

I guess this camera is not "idiot-proof" and requires a lot of reading up the downloaded manual, and practice. Haven't done enough, I guess. Is there a "how-to" forum for LX5?

LX5 battery power does not last very long, I wish Panasonic can find a solution and upgrade the firmware in future to make the battery last longer.

I agree with you on battery power. Twice, I got into situation when the battery died. I will bring CHARGER and SPARE everytime I go off for a trip next time. My previous Lumix FX9 has incredible power. I can go off for 3 days with NO problem. This is my perception.

just got my LX5 and I'm wondering if there is an ISO limit when shooting in 'My Color' mode? Seems like ISO 400 is the maximum when shooting in that mode? Please correct me if I'm wrong and what I can do to get it shooting at higher ISOs.

Thanks.

Is it that when the battery drain out when you're taking photos, the lens will still remain protuding out....
It doesn't retract back by itself.

Ah, that was my experience too! Lesson is NOT to power it on, knowing that it is showing low power already. If so, do have a spare battery to exchange!!!
