Hi Everyone,

If you are thinking of selling your used digicam, please watch out for dishonest vendors who are out to con you.

The wife and I had the misfortune to encounter one such vendor. The shop is called Pac-Tech Computer House, and the owner, Rocky, regularly places ads in the ST Classifieds.

When I called Rocky to ask him how much can we sell our Sony T10 for, he threw the question back at us, and asked us how much we want to sell it for. After I suggested an amount, he said "OK" and told me to come down to his shop at Kembangan Plaza.

My wife brought the camera to his shop, and told Rocky that I had called him earlier and reiterated the price agreed upon. To her surprise, Rocky quoted her a new amount that was 6 times lower than the original amount!!

Furthermore, he had the cheek to tell my wife that "this is business", and that over the phone "it's just talk, I can say ok to anything". Obviously, the idea of integrity in business means nothing to him.

When my wife refused to sell the digicam for the new price, he started to raise the price until it was about 4 times more! Imagine the amount of profit he is trying to scam out of his customers!

Eventually, we did not sell the digicam to him as we felt that he was absolutely untrustworthy. I called him up the next day, only to be told that this was all part of the "bargaining" process! To top it off, he even denied meeting my wife!

This whole episode was a huge waste of our time, and we probably sacrificed thousands of brain cells trying to reason with the owner. If you are selling your digicam, please stay clear of Pac-Tech Computer House to be spared the same grief.

If your story is true, then the guy is bast&**** for wasting people time.
This kind of Fuc*** should be killed. I pity u and ur wife. Just advertised
in mocca or phing (hardwarezone marketplace).. u get a better response.
And if you do get people interested in buying, make sure u stick to your
price but be considerable on ur price.
dont expect to get back 100 %.. 50% is good enuff;p

I'm sure the ppl here dun sell our cameras responding to classified ads like that...

Your wife did the right thing of not selling to this vendor...

obviously it is out to cheat other ppl as well... That is no way to do business...:nono:

Ya boy, stick to selling to a fellow clubsnapper. I've had mostly highly positive experiences buying & selling my gear thru here. : )

Anyone wanna carry out a sting operation to tekan this shop? HAHHA :)

Everywhere is the same. Is this type of dishonest seller or buyer that makes life miserable and waste peoples time and money. I too have eccounter several sellers here confirming their sales price only to use it to fish for higher price as they already have backup to fall on to. Once they get better offer they will than reply by giving crap reason of not selling.

It seems like the only way is to immediately confirm and fly down to deal but than not everyone have the time to do this right?
