Hi Everyone,
If you are thinking of selling your used digicam, please watch out for dishonest vendors who are out to con you.
The wife and I had the misfortune to encounter one such vendor. The shop is called Pac-Tech Computer House, and the owner, Rocky, regularly places ads in the ST Classifieds.
When I called Rocky to ask him how much can we sell our Sony T10 for, he threw the question back at us, and asked us how much we want to sell it for. After I suggested an amount, he said "OK" and told me to come down to his shop at Kembangan Plaza.
My wife brought the camera to his shop, and told Rocky that I had called him earlier and reiterated the price agreed upon. To her surprise, Rocky quoted her a new amount that was 6 times lower than the original amount!!
Furthermore, he had the cheek to tell my wife that "this is business", and that over the phone "it's just talk, I can say ok to anything". Obviously, the idea of integrity in business means nothing to him.
When my wife refused to sell the digicam for the new price, he started to raise the price until it was about 4 times more! Imagine the amount of profit he is trying to scam out of his customers!
Eventually, we did not sell the digicam to him as we felt that he was absolutely untrustworthy. I called him up the next day, only to be told that this was all part of the "bargaining" process! To top it off, he even denied meeting my wife!
This whole episode was a huge waste of our time, and we probably sacrificed thousands of brain cells trying to reason with the owner. If you are selling your digicam, please stay clear of Pac-Tech Computer House to be spared the same grief.
