Wanting to try a 35mm film camera

Thanks guys! I will reconsider based on the bulk and weight!

The F5 is a real workhorse though. But I felt unless you were one of the war journalist, you wouldn't need one. Best try both and then make your decision. All the best for that!

Congrats on your purchase, I'm sure you'll enjoy using it! What lenses are you getting for it?

Still thinking about it at the moment. might just go for a 50mm f1.8 go on a budget and play around somemore till i get a hang of things. Wonder how long it (camera) takes to get here from the states argh..

It takes usually about 7 to 14 working days depending on what carrier is used. I once had to wait about 1.5 months for my purchase to arrive cause of customs. Best if you ask the person you bought it from to give you the tracking number so you can see yourself on the webby.

FM2 has no autofocus right? Then don't get the AF 50mm 1.8D, the focus ring action is not very nice for focusing. The older AI and AI-S versions might be a better choice.

ah...icic.. point noted! thanks again for the advice!

Haha, sorry no such luck. I'll sell it to you at $XXX though!

CJ > pls conduct buy and sell activities in the personal classified section... at the very least, take it offline. thanks.

i would suggest getting something locally for a first set... best to have some form of warranty. also, i think it important to have a first good experience. the A-1 is a good choice, with aperture priority, or i'd suggest a FM2 or something similar... largely manual, but meters.

then once you're a little more familiar for what to lookout for or ask... the "evil"-one opens to the world of possibilities.

muahahah okok im messing around with it. popped in a roll of film n happily snapping..mmm shall know if everything is working well once i'm done with this roll.... think i might have some problems with the exposure.oh well... learn learn!

Congrats, that was quite fast! Careful when rewinding the film, don't be like me and snap the film because of not following instructions haha.

Dear All, i have a query though... because the exposure counter on the camera doesnt seem to be working proper... erm..any order indicators to let me know that im done with the roll of film??

You cannot advance the lever any more when you're done with the film. You might want to be careful when you know you're near the end of the roll (36/24 shots) and don't wind too hard in case you're really at the end of the roll and resulting in you tearing the film or something.
