Wanting to go into four thirds camera platforms but unsure which is better?

personally i think a Panasonic/Lumix GX-1 would work for you, you can probably check out the b&s section. its a pretty capable camera in itself.. since the OM-d is out of your budget.

Mm ok..but what is the main difference between the EPM1 and the Panasonice Lumix GX 1?

Check out the review on Panasoni Lumix GX 1, i really find it very nice and to my liking..but anyone know the price for it?

Think i saw one GX1 on sale in BnS :p

It not all about the body. if u want low light capability, do consider a 20mmf1.7, 25mm f1.4 or 45mmf1.8.
These few lens mentioned will make a difference in the image if compared to the kit lens regardless of what body.
I am a lens person..i prefer a cheaper m4/3 body but will spend on lens.

He needs to keep it to 1K.

He needs to keep it to 1K.

20mm- $500 new or $430(B&S)
EPM-1 - below $500? (at B&S) or ep2 or GF1 ($400 at B&S)..with kit lens i think:-)

get EP2 or EPL2 cheap now BnS some selling bnew or almost bnew from 400-500. Lens no other I could recommend but will blow your budget by 200 or more the PL 25mm f1.4 :-) next is the 45mm if you really want to keep it under 1K. Right now I am using EPL2 and keeping the kit lens with me just in case plus the Pl25mm f1.4 and the rest are MF lenses to me I use my EPL2 for portraits only due to skin tone :-)

GX-1 new sensor , better iso perfomance. More tough , pro look. More value now. Of course, the OM-D is number one now..lol
EPM-1 still using a older sensor (but doesn't mean it cannot make good picture as long u know what u are doing with it). Looks plain without much controls. (but deep inside it has most features that the PEN flagship ep-3 has)

Low light capable <$1k. GX1 + 20mm 1.7 but may be about $1.1k used. Or GX1 + 14-45 (1st gen) at about $900 used. You can shoot at ISO1600 and still get very good pictures with a little noise.

OMD is the best one yet for m4/3.
If its out of your budget, then I'd recommend the G3.
It uses the newer 16mp m4/3 sensor (some claim same sensor as OMD) with pretty good high ISO capability (comfortably up to 3200).
Has a EVF and articulating screen.
Cheap too at about $700-800 new.

Personally, I think its more worth it than the G1X which's claim to fame is GF1 legacy and "RF styling" for the Panasonic line.

Two CS review on the G3.
