Hi Ruey Loon,

thank you so much for your help.

would need your friend to take either digital or normal colour photos for us on 11th and 13th Feb.

we will be glad to cover any transport and expenses like film and batteries as well as dinner for both nights. we'd also like to give a small ang pow of $50 for his help.

Graduation ceremony 11th Feb
- Venue HQ Medical Corps at Nee Soon Camp, Main Auditorium
- Time 5.30pm to 8.30pm
- Will need individual shots for 37 of us receiving the certificate, group shots during the swearing in, ad hoc shots with VIPs, group shots out on the parade square with VIPs
- Lighting is bright in the auditorium but the parade square will be dimly lit

Formal Dinner 13th Feb
- Venue Pan Pacific Hotel, Pacific Ballroom
- Time 6pm to 10pm
- Will need ad hoc shots during the cocktail reception, group pics in a separate function room, shots with VIPs, pics during the formal dinner and during the post dinner entertainment
- Lighting will be dim during the formal dinner and entertainment period

Kindly let your friend contact myself at 97913095 either this coming Monday or Friday if he is interested.

take care of you
God bless

$50 for a minimum of 7 hours work over 2 days? I'm sure lots of people will be queuing up for the privilege ;)

good for newbies to practise. for those who have never taken dinner photos before, this is your opportunity to experiment. anyway, film is provided.

dun miss this opportunity to do trial and error. furthermore, you're get $50 pocket money.

Yah, the formal dinner should be good for some candids a la An Officer and A Gentleman. You know, ramrod straight back, soup spoon to mouth (although if this is what I suspect - MOCC passing out - you'll get quite a few slouchers, like moi).

yupz, this is MOCC passing out :p hehehe

just one question, what if the newbie cannot come up with any decent shots?

Then he/she will be SHOT :dent:

SHOT by which camera? or by which videocam? :p

now i know why the going rate for event photography is a joke.
$50 over 2 dayS? this is ridiculous! c'mon, we are all photographers here and for that kind of money over 2 days, your friend doesn't even deserve a newbie who wants to practice!!

I am sorry, (No offence to rueyloon) but this sure looks like exploiting newbies in the name of offering them a "chance to practice". $50 for the 2 nights might as well don't pay. No wonder the market is so bad. :(

CK

yah, since when did event photographers work for ang pows and free love?

:D that is why i asked what would happen if the newbie cannot come up with any decent shots.

If they were to offer such a low rate, they have to be prepared for lousy products. Ultimately, if the photographer fails to deliver, there would be no right for them to make noise...whatever...

Right. But from the description, this sure looks like one of those that you cannot afford to screw up. And they pay only $50 for 2 nights.

And yes, you are right. They have to be fully prepared to accept crap shots - underexposed, red eye, out of focus, blur, etc.

ok, sory, maybe I didn't explain this properly,

when they are looking for is a "friend, friend" photographer, the money is an angpow.. NOT PAYMENT.

This is not supposed to be looked on as an "assignment" of any sort.

They are not PAYING anything or any money.
