Try Cathay Photo @ Peninsular Plaza. They still have 5600. The 3600 no more stock already. I managed to buy over the 3600 Hs (D) flash from Fatmansatay.

For 5600 flash, prepare to spend around $600 plus plus. You may also want to try at The Camera worshop (TCW) at the 1st level of Peninsular shopping centre. It they have one at $600. Hope this helps. For 3600 HS (D) flash is hard to get. not more stock in the market. I ahev been looking around. Perhaps search online in this forum and you make come across one for sales from member here.

I saw one at Harvet Norman Jurong Point. It was going for SGD 599.

Wah.. look like the price of 5600 has gone up... Used to be 500+ range. Luckily I bought mine at the MO at 400+

I think you can almost get a new one by ordering from US at that price.

From some website, it seem to have 2 version.

Latest/future version may indeed not from Japan, heard Minolta have move their lens manufacturing plant to China :dunno: Anyone can verify?

the newer 50mm 1.7 is plastic and i believe its from China or some other place, definitely not Japan. i bought mine last year at about $115. even for the "original" model which is supposedly glass and metal and not plastic lenses (or as the guy at AP told me) was selling about $200+ NEW. of course that was then, at this time it looks like KM stuff are becoming more expensive instead of cheaper! strange phenomenon... stuff on eBay like the 5600 are going for SGD800+ less shipping! wah!! i can sell mine and double my money on a used 5600... of course it means i'll go to the back of the queue for a D strobe..

Anyway looking for a flash unit. Since I'm new to this flash stuff don't mid getting any type either the 3600 or 5600 HS or Sony ones. Also read that the metz MZ-4 with hotshoe adaptor receives good reviews.

Currently 3600HS is almost impossible to get new in stores (unless anyone knows?), 5600HS is in limited supply, some going for $575 (w/o GST). Sony ones, HVL-F56AM (USD$449.99) HVL-F36AM (USD$299.99), based on SRP is not that cheap.

I wonder if the Metz Mecablitz MZ-4 with hotshoe adaptor can get easily here. It cost slightly more than the Sony flash HVL-F56AM. Though I'm a casual/hobbyist photographer, I like the idea of bouncing light or use a diffuser when taking potrait or group photos under some situation to reduce harsh shadows which I can't do with the bulit-in one.

Though I feel the need for a flash unit, not sure if I'll use it that frequently.

Anyone care to share?

The Sony flash which basically a rebadged 5600 is good enough... guide number 56 at ISO100 50mm... very poweful... I hav annoyed quite a few people with the flash before...

you can chec kout Harvey Norman at Hougang Mall. They have one set of the KM 5D plus also a 3600HS flash.

I think u are replying to the wrong person... I use a 7D plus 5600HS for 2 years liaoz...
