Well known CBS News anchorman and icon, Walter Cronkite died on July 17 2009. He was 92.

Walter Cronkite could have said the sky was red and people would have run outside to see it for themselves. I'm not sure why people believed him so much, but it was impressive.

Those, like him, who were the first on television were remembered much more vividly, I suppose because television was new.
