I recall that there was a thread somehwere on the Vosonic 8360's incompatibility with the Green Transcend 2GB CF card - I'm just posting this here cos I can't find that thread anymore.

Anyone knows whether this problem has been resolved yet?

I have 2 nos. 8GB Transcend 2GB card and VOSONIC 8360 with the latest firmware update. No incompatibility since May 2006. Cheers!

;) ;) ;)

I heard that there were some problems after pple tried to upgrade the firmware though...thats why I was hesitant to update.

from vosonic.com, the problem with transcend cards was fixed by firmware 1.2.7 recently.
mine (vp8390) currently on fw 1.2.8-B3, transferred from transcend with no prob.

I might be getting vp8390... care to share it pros and cons from your experience?

Thanks :)

so far my experience with 8390 is great and no regret.
just bite the bullet as aws is coming. ;p

I have the 8390 as well. Only comment I have are:
1. The bundled Magix software is not the full version. Would need to buy on-line the full package,
2. When fast forward while watching a movie, the dialogue (voice or whatever) is about 10 secs ahead of the movie you see on screen. Sound is faster than light!:bsmilie:

If your primary purpose of VP8390 is for viewing video and listen to music, go ahead as VP8390 display is pleasant due to the high contrast OLED. If your primary purpose is for storing digital photographs, then I would suggest VP8360 as the pictures displayed is closer to the actual object.

You may want to try it by taking a digital photo of the people and load it into the VP8360 & VP8390 and compair the display from both equipment. I did it two weeks ago and dropped the idea of getting VP8390 as the storage of my VP8360 is fulled. ;)

I encountered this problem before. This happened with certain encoding software. I use AutoGK with AC3 plug-in (both are freewares) and get perfect results.

Cheers! ;)

Thanks for the info. Will remember and try when there is an opportunity. Too busy with work. Thank you.

just got a 8390. Yes compared side by side between both 8360 and 8390 with photos from my CF cards. Somehow the 8360 seems brighter, but details are burn. However, 8390 seems a bit dark on overall picture but details maintain especially skin tone. Now charging the unit..... :)
