Voigtlander's new Heliar Classic 75mm f/1.8

This is because nobody else has it. Chiff hasn't been around much since the week of Photokina. I think he's only back next week. ZoomP is the fastest to get this lens!

Cheers,

That's so true, Benny. ZoomP is fast and furious one.

Tested the lens on the Olive Bessa R2 with Agfa APX 400.

Upz for the lens! Definitely my favorite portrait lens for now!!!

Before this lens came out, when customers asking for a "good portrait lens", I usually recommend the 50mm/f1.1, which is fast, shallow depth of field. But 50mm is a little too wide for head shots.

75mm is best for head portrait shots and with f1.8, it's the dream lens for portraiture.

don't have the summarit, could only put together something against the lux and cron...

Here's some taken on the same lens with the digital M.

With 75mm focal length...notice some hand shake in some of the portrait shots indoor...need to watch out for shutter speed lower than 1/90sec...

Zoomp can you post some wide open bokeh ball shot from this lens in digital...would like to see if the bokeh ball is round or oval...thanks...:D

Will do that when i get the chance.

There will be both round & oval bokeh balls depending on the angle of incidence. Straight on bokeh balls will be rounder. Those at an angle will be oval. Wide open always roundish. Stopped down may be angular if aperture blades less.

correct. further to that, it isn't just the number of blades, but the shape that the aperture blades form when stopped down. both the cron and lux have a similar "star" shape as the 50lux asph, when stopped down... they cv is more of a regular polygon.

The top row is the 75lux, 75heliarclassic, and 75cron (in that order) shot wide open.

The lower row is the same order of lenses shot at f/4.

Setup has the iiif about 40cm behind the zi, which is 1m from the film plane / sensor.

Yes, if shape the same, more blades=more round, like some of the 13-15 blades old lenses-the shape stays round from wide to minimum.:)

That's a very nice side-by-side comparison.
Thx for your effort to do this.
