Voigtlander Lenses with E-P1

I'm assuming you mean how you focus with it on the E-P1?

The E-P1 uses a live view mode, so essentially just set to whatever aperture you want on your lens, then turn the focus dial on the lens while viewing the LCD. To assist you there's a zoom in function which can allow you to fine tune the focus. You just make sure the camera is in the "manual focus zoom mode" (forgot the actual name), hit OK on the camera dial, and it zooms into the area you selected. Hit OK again after you got your focus and then you can recompose the shot.

The zoom goes in 7x or 10x, which can get very bumpy when shooting at anything above 40mm.

The images look great! The image will zoom for fine focusing even though you were using your Voigtlander lenses? I'm planning on getting a Nikon F Mount to M4/3 adapter for my E-P1 and kinda wondering how to focus if it does not zoom.

You'll need to press a button to make it zoom, and then press it again to zoom out.

Your pictures are a whole lot better than most I have seen so far. Most of the them look soapy and seem to lack details. Did you change any settings for the noise control? Maybe it's just the kit lenses being the ho hum category.

Here are some more shots taken today around Duxton.

This one looks really dangerous... Can send to Tanjong Pagar town council? Got that unit number?

Hm... I did adjust the sharpness and contrast in camera a little as that's what I prefer, noise control i left it as the default. But please note that these were sharpened in lightroom as well.

I think the 17mm kit lens is a good. It's pretty sharp, perhaps the "soapy" ones you saw were with the zoom kit lens. I didn't like that lens because of it's size and look when extended, not sure about it's image quality.

Actually it looks more dangerous than it is, it's actually 2 units that are drying their clothes. The one above makes it look more dangerous, the one below I don't know how secure those diagonal poles are. ;p

dangerous or not, i really like the shadows of the udner garments. the clothings are clear on the poles but the angle of the pole with under garments makes it difficult to see. but the shadow really add on a lot of interest. more importantly, the colours are great! die...poison liao. should have kept the lenses when i sold the bessa R2....

A few more photos from around my studio just for fun... Some of these were at ISO 1600.. not too bad for a tiny camera!

More can be seen at http://www.studiov.com.sg/TEMP/EP1_Test/content/ER130085_large.html, although some were taken with the oly 17mm for comparison.

If you are interested to know how easy/hard it is to manual focus, I would say it just takes some getting used to. I think it takes about the same amount of time as it would if I shot on my Bessa to be honest. The only problem I had was with the WB at the airport. I think the camera had a tough time, but then again when I shot at the airport with my D3 recently, the D3 also had a tough time getting the WB right.

It's too bad the crop factor is so dramatic, my 40mm now becomes an 80mm! But I suppose I'll get used to it...

Oh yes.. did I mention the Silver E-P1 looks damn good with the Voigtlander lenses attached to it? :)

Hi

Is it ok if you post some photos of E-P1 with Voigtlander lenses mounted, thanks!

Haha sure, but I'm waiting for my leatherette kit (http://www.aki-asahi.com/store/html/E-P1/leatherette/EP1.php) to come in before I take some photos of it.

I can tell you that the silver E-P1 looks pretty good with the Voigtlander lenses.

Thanks enivre, maybe you wana take a b4 and after shots as the leatherette make the cam look almost all black ;)

i posted 1 on flickr with my 40mm. not a great pic but nonetheless here it is:

LOL, your photo #2 looks sharper than #1!

Haha.. yeah partly because the D3's one there's selective focusing done so the bag in the background is supposed to be a little OOF.

enivre, great write-up and spectacular pictures with EP-1 and the lenses
