Hi,

I saw this Voigtlander Bessa R2a with serial number 0005184 online, was considering on getting it, however I want to know whether its the Matte Black version or the Classic Black version. Seller has no way of telling me the difference so he gave me the serial number.

Anyone here can tell the colour from its serial number ? hehe

If its R2A should be the matt black finish. The aperture priority models are matt black, whilet the mechanical ones, the R2M and R3M are classic black.

If the words in front of the camera is "Bessa R2A", then it is the older version, which is like the magnesium black version, like the Nikon digital bodies.

If it's only the word, R2A, then it is confirmed the newer matt black.

If you are talking about Smooth Classic Piano black, then it is only available in R2M, R3M & R4M series.
